Im trying to get ideas about buildups in a live performance environment.

What are some things taht are common?

Stems, arranged on the fly?

Prearranged entire builds?

Any new ideas are helpful and inspiring.           .

Ive got an Effect Rack in Live with a bunch of effects, including a dblue glitch, that I really enjoy the sound of. I tried teh STutter Edit, and its cool and all, but, it just sounds kinda obvious out of the box, idk... I like my rack. If anyone cares I can upload it and the vsts, theyre all free.           .

I found manually sequencing audio works very well haven't tried the plugins but will at some point.

Also one of the newer Pioneer Mixers has a "Roll" Facility on it which seems to loop and kind of glitch the sound seemed to do this with no loss of sound quality worth a look if you know anyone who has got.           http://soundcloud.com/particle-matters

I like stutter edit, automaton for this type of stuff...'spin the random wheel' so to speak...

throw some kick rolls or FX or drum fills through those two programs, but do a couple of sections longer than the break.

Now, hunt through the resulting audio for those couple sections - undoubtedly some of it is rubbish, but there might be some gold in there.

Cut it up, stitch it together, cut it up some more - profit            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

yeah if you are using ableton use the slice to midi function that can be really helpful in making a zillion little samples from some longer one.

try finding a vocal speech sample. then slice it to midi on 16th notes or 8th notes, then go through and add crazy effects and check each sample for coolness. you should find something neat.           --

is that skazi??

i think hes just writing in audio kicks and shortening the length of each part as the frequency of kicks increases. you cant do this with midi though, has to be done with audio. i think its the old school cubase/israeli producer style           Gamma Riders EP out now on iTunes and Amazon.com!
