Hey fellow musicians
I have a little question regarding a specific plugin I found and like. I'm not sure if this free plugin called dfx buffer override (http://destroyfx.smartelectronix.com) has ever been discussed in detail. Can anyone give me some tips? Especially automating it is very hard.
However, I'm using this plug alot and have some ways to make it sound acceptable. For example while routing it through a midigate or patterngate (camelspace).
What I would like to know is how to get such advanced buffering effects timed so well like postfords work. Sure it's alot of experience I imagine after trying to get this effect to sound good.
On the other hand, does anyone know a good alternative to this plugin? |

Hi,
I am also interested to know this.. I have spent a lot of time experimenting with granular type effects such as buffer override and KT granulator. The problem is it is hard to get good tempo syncing. The ideal plugin would be something like buffer override but it would automatically snap the buffer lengths to set multiples of the host tempo. I don't know of any plugin which does this.
You could try and do this manually by calcualting the values which fit your tempo then automating only using these values. However, not sure this would work well in practice.
Maybe hard work and a good audio editor is the only answer! |

Buffer override should have a tempo sync located in the upper left area of the plug in.

Hi .
CPU and Neuromotor got me hooked on this killer plug-in. now I guess ill try it out in every new song. we found that the best thing to do with it is bounce the results and fix the timing in audio. you can get some really killer results. u can use the audio and combine with some of the origional sound.
get some drum loops going like aphex twin.. the automation is killer . brain melting overrides. try it on a bounce of your whole track for a break!
the tempo sync has always worked fine for me get some weird 3/888 time stutters . ahhhh nice.
good luck have fun.
peace

Hey Ross,
I don't know if you have a vst-au wrapper, but Live Cut might be something you might wanna check out too. Give me a holla and I'll point you to where to get it. It's freeware and pretty good. Also Dblue glitch is great as well, but I'm not sure if it's for Mac or not..
