Review by: Freaky Bob - Peek Magazine/ Upfront Magazine UK

All the old Trancelucent stalwarts seemingly rear their heads in this extremely coherent and well structured comp from Homsy @ Trancelucent Productions, each of whom deliver a tune that befits their style. In other words we have an extremely well rounded album that cuts across the psy genre: from the progressive laden and spaced grooves of Cosmic Tone through to the digital psychedelic insanity of the likes of Misted Muppet and Evil Drug Lords. Tight production also invariably means that each track pounds out of the sound system straight into the heart of the dance floor. FB

Christophe Fabulet (FR)

Certainly according to me one of the best compilation I've heard this year in
progressive and psy trance. Once again, the soundz are original and tuned
towards the future, with great leads and quiet synth soundz :: the classical
sound and sensation in Trance. I prefer the title "Buckle Up" and after the
great track, the last but not the least : Prophet Vibes. So many many pleasure
I've had to listen to it.

Liese - MUSHROOM MAGAZINE (GR) :

kle up is killer, very powerful from the beginning until the end. when I first listen to it, I could not sit on my chair any longer. we played the misted Muppet and the visual paradox also on that Sunday and it was a pleasure to see what happens on the floor. I like the twisted style, twirling and squeezing all around my head. as I prefer full on music this is the highlight of the stuff you send, it is very cool to combine it with the rest in my CD-bag and it makes my curios about how is it going on with trancelucent...

Another interesting compilation by this Israeli independent label, and this time compiled by Homsy – Trancelucent Production label manager itself.
Homsy (Omri Harari) has gathered several tunes from his artists and friends and decided that it is time for us to hear his notion of trance music.

Starting from Cosmic Tone, a very talented artist (who’s on its way to release a second album very soon) with his minimalistic fullonish music, continuing to some progressive night music thanks to Ultravoice & Kyolog and slowly moving to pure Israeli full on madness for the next 3 upcoming tracks. The madness peak comes with The Misted Muppet with many touches of goa. It’s Noga’s turn to make a comeback (used to be a part of Cosmic Tone) with some more mellow music enchained by Evil Drug Lords. Electro Sun closes the compilation with some final morning tunes.

To sum it up, a very interesting compilation. You get to hear the Israeli kicks, but its definitely not the usual ones.
You’ll feel as if you’re participating in a race, and this is also illustrated in the cover.

Compiled by Homsy & mastered by Dj Bog (Visual Paradox).

Your eyes will immediatly notice the formula one design concept which also reflects a bit into the tunes.
So, after karaté (Empty Hand compilation) & racing , may i suggest audacious new sportive concepts to the Trancelucent team for their new compilations: Darts, Pool/Snooker or even Curling …

Let’s begin with a long chunky groove track, not at all the usual Cosmic Tone morning full on sound. Indeed, it’s the warm up lap of the compilation : you make throbbing the engine (2’46 or 5’00), oups i mean the bassline. You realize your last presets selection (which is expressed by several changing part & tone in the track) in order to be qualified for the race, you need to accelerate to overtake some opponents around 9’00 , but they’re not decided to let you do. Succesfully you get qualified for the second track (Ultravoice vs Kyo Log – Take-No Logic), i mean the race.

It’s your first formula one competition of your life & like each first lap of competition race, it’s a fucking traffic jam ! You can’t do what you want, every concurrent is anxious at his maximum & everybody is trying to overtake since the very first secondes resulting in a typical Ultravoice trademarks with boosted options. That’s the case up to that’s fatal, an accident occurs (probably with Schummy one again) (4’50), so the race is over for you. Sometimes your car survive after the clash, that’s what happens here. From now, it seems your driving on 3 & ½ tyres, you’re loosing a wing tip. Reaching the checkered flag, your engine provides his leathal final breath.

Time to full on with Illumination-Meditation, now you have becomming more expert in driving getting less tense & having more fun coppled with adrenaline pushes As ‘Emptyness is a key in meditation’ (3’40), it’s your turn making concurrents cars (especially Jean Alesi , the grit king) eject off the asphalt . Some happy brassy notes welcome you at 6’00 warning you that entering among the 6 first leading cars btw you harvest your first points of the season.

The Misted Muppets – Amsterdam, invites into more extreme sounds :sharp, metallic, shrill & twisted, on the end the leading melodic sound transform into cybercat (not to say spacecat) mewing. Definitevly intense hard full on that won’t please everybody, personally i’m a bit disappointed from this Muppets show.

Sometimes during the race, you have to make a break, not really in fact you must go to the pit for changing tyres & refuelling in order to Buckle Up (Dj Bog-Perplex-Jeremy) the race. Frequently the half of a compilation is the perfect moment to choose to stop at the pit, oups i mix again with the race. First of all, you need to spot the pit area, then slow down when in the area. If you scale during supllying, it’s finished for you, you gotta keep your engine a bit under pressure but not too much, it’s technical.
That’s exactly what explain you musically this trio artists during this track . Besides you can catch the sound of the last drops of fuel dripping in your reservoir at the end of the track.

First newcomer for me Noga (Noga Noga Sudai) which delivers with Extensive Survey a long groovy full on tune in a misty morning coloration coppled with funky satellistic melody. The particularity of the track resides in his 3-4 floor launching builds up like a rocket loosing step by step some of its elements for gaining more penetrating power & speed in order to reach its final destination in order to drop Hubbles.

Now some quite discret by the number of their released tracks but sparkling artist with their musical skills : Evil Drug Lords. From the start, you catch their hypnotic-psychotic sound environnement (basslines,+background synths), Feedback is a full on tune with psycho-jazzy influences in the sweet melody appearing at 2’40 & some changing tone, very refreshing & uplifting.

Second newcomer for me Electro Sun (Nadav Elkayam), Prophet Vibes is a stomper production with time after time heavy or funky basslines, fat & funkadelic twisted sounds at first then the leads evolves into more psychedelic (around 2’30), the funky touch still remains a bit but progresively dissapears .

By order Highlight tracks :7,6,3
Then favorites are :1,8,5 ... 2,4

Mark :8/10 for the quality of the selected tracks & the effort put on releasing some newcomers or less known artists like Noga,Electro Sun,Jeremy & Evil Drug Lords nevertheless i will always think that 8 tracks for a compilation is a bit short.

all the others are nice except track 7 which is not groovy enough to my ears.
track 5 is great opened but after a while lose its power because it doesn't change... no climax

Review:

Independent Israeli label Trancelucent Productions released this “theme compilation” late last year, compiled by Homsy of Psymag-fame …and I completely missed it… Now I’ve got it, and its time to find out what formula one trance is all about!

Let me take you thru the tracks…

#01: “My mind is going”… You don’t expect smooth, funky progressive trance from Cosmic Tone now do you? Well, that’s what were getting here and what a relief that is… This long opener chances pace a couple of time, but it cannot run away from its proggy roots… I like the very well-made, building percussion work in this track... However, it does move a little slow at times… If this was two minutes shorter, it would have been even better! Decent track!

#02: This track takes a distinctive turn from progressive to max power neo full on… And back again… A nice hybrid of genres makes this stand out a bit… But I’m not sure it’s for the right reasons… Notable parallels to old Infected Mushroom at places… Ok track!

#03: Definitely NOT meditation music from Illumination here... Fast paced, in-yer-face bouncy trance here… First track to really grab my attention on this comp – suddenly my head was bobbing along to this sweet tune! Cool track!

#04: I’ve only been to A’dam once… It was a 6 hour stopover waiting for a bus – and it sounded nothing like this! If it did, I’d stayed longer, ‘cause this is some spacey shit! ;o) Weird, off key acid melodies with an underlying groovy present throughout the track! Cool track!

#05: 3 second intro vs. space samples vs. dark atmosphere vs. gloomy sounds vs. acid synths vs. your usual Israeli night time stomper… Argh, what’s with all the versusses? Well, it’s not a bad track at all… Better buckle up! Nice track!

#06: I’ve never heard of Noga before, but I’ll keep an eye out in the future, ‘cause this is not bad at all… We’re on the progressive side of things with underlying Israeli full on kicks and bleeps… Nice, smooth and groovy morning tune! Cool track!

#07: Ahh, the masters: those evil drug lords! In fact this isn’t very evil at all…It’s a very interesting track – Ranging from powerful, dark night trance, to sweet innocent melodic epic trance… That recognisable simple melody in the middle of the track will leave you thinking: What the …? But it rocks, that’s for sure! Cool track!

#08: Young star Electro Sun winds things up with this distinctive morning tune… Nice psychedelic effects, but when it comes down to it not much is new under the electro sun! Decent track!

For an Israeli compilation, this isn’t half bad… Most of the stuff is well-produced and basically does what it’s supposed to: Entertain the listener… The cover art is nice and different… However I could have wished for more coherence between the theme of the compilation, and the actual tracks… Frankly, when listening to this, I don’t get a formula one race kind of feel– whatever the hell that is!? Most tracks are good; however there are no essential tracks on this… For my taste at least - but I’m sure the many fans of the modern Israeli full on style, will appreciate this…
