BROKEN TOY
Broken Toy is 26 year old James Copeland from Cape Town, South Africa. He produces psytrance with a diverse style and a wide variety of moods for the dancefloor - from full-on psy to electro-funk, from deep and dreamy to tribal techno. Musical influences are too many to mention - anything with groove and attitude, ranging from metal to electro-pop and gangster rap / hip hop.

Previous musical experiences include being a guitarist and bass player in various metal bands during his angry teenage years, although this phase quickly gave way to a voracious appetite for electronic music, kick drums, and thundering big basslines! Psytrance was the natural choice of dance music for its power and creative flexibility.

He also produced as one half of the more full-on project "Damage", and has been successfully making psytrance since 2001. Damage was one of the pioneers of the Cape Town psytrance scene, producing alongside other artists from South Africa like Shift, Artifakt, Protoculture and Phyx.

Since those early days a lot has changed, but the idea is still the same - keep the dancefloor rocking and the party-people entertained. So expect the Broken Toy to keep bringing the noise to all the girls and boys!

In 2004 he was taken on as an Alchemy records artist and stayed in London for two years working closely with the label. He is now based in South Africa again. He has gigged all over the world - Brazil, India, Russia, the UK, Canada, South Africa, Israel, Mexico, France, Spain, Austria, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Portugal, and Japan. And now Australia!~)

His debut album was released in May 2005. Expect the followup Album "The Low, Down, Dirty sound of ..." in 2007.
