hi guys ..
just wanted your opinion on breaks in a track specially for night time music ..
do you think there should be many breaks in a track ...i personally feel that more than three breaks kinda like destroys the whole hypnotic flow / feel in a track ..i feel that the listener gets more immersed /sucked in when there are no or few breaks ..
would love to listen to what you guys think ..

sorry mate but do you mean breaks as in breakbeats or breakdowns/pauses in the action?
I guess a lot of the breaks are there to help DJs mix certain sections eh? If it works, then IMO it's cool if it doesn't then I guess noone will play the track, eh?

not too much breaks...a few well placed breaks worth more than loads of useless break to show how cool you are |

i think one or two long brakes in a 2hour live set are fine.
as wizack twizack said long brakes are energy killers but people need some seconds to breathe, don't you think?
mini breaks are a must in every track as we are talking about psytrance.
just remember why you make this kind of music and everything will come out without any trouble (and here comes the matter of taste )

Disagree.
Nothing is "a must in every track" - precisely for the same reason: we're talking about psytrance. As long as there is a semblance of regular rhythm and some trippy sounds - it's psytrance. Just because most tracks have breaks, does not mean it's not psytrance without them. Some (many?) Suomi tracks don't have them. They are usually shorter too. Why make two 4-minute half-tracks if you can make a 6-minute whole? |

mini breakks ...constant each 32 or even 16 bars drumrolls etc are so ruining the beauty of a true trance.. damn, one of the reasons why its getting sometimes really annoying.
Its fun the whole creativity with all those pithery and stuff.. but it's a downer for true travellers I guess.

imho: the less, the better.
a lot of modern psytrance (mainly the fullonish stuff) is overloaded with breaks and that totally kills the flow.
bpc's micromega is a fantastic track and has no single break iirc.
but by all means if a track demands a break at a certain point then it should have one. just don't use them as a cheap trick to get the people to "put the hands up in the air". |

fewer breaks are better imo. If they are long i think its nice to have something in them to keep the beat, then on the dance floor you at least know whats going on/ keep some of the energy

what i find irratating is when there is a break and then the beat come back.. and you wonder why there was a break? cause it s just like before,no more or less energy.. the break was just there to annoy guys trying to get in trance.. it s also the same for these big break and then after you get nothing..lol best way to make some ppl leave the dancefloor |

I never understand why some acts have so many and such long breaks. It totally ruins the flow of the dancefloor if you have tracks that last longer than 30 seconds. Every 5 tracks you can have a break that is a little longer. But please skip the 2 minute breaks. There is no use for them whatsoever...
