well if im wrong then im wrong - although when i used denons, the 0.7 rule was not working, so unless i was using faulty denon1800 i dont know..you tell me.
but i stand by the pioneer statement: they have become
the "technics 1200s" of the cd players - if you disagree with this it only means you own other players and are defending your own.

I don't own any decks, vinyl or CD, and personally I believe that as a DJ, I should be prepared to play on - and play well on - whatever the venue supplies, even home CD players without pitch controls, if that's all that is available. A couple of times this might mean coming up against players you're unfamiliar with and having to figure out how they work at short notice (like during your first track! lol... this happened to me the first time I used Numark CDJs) but that's part of the game, and if you throw your toys out of the pram just because the party doesn't have and CDJ100s then maybe you shouldn't be playing.
I will agree that Pioneer CDJs are the most common, and personally I do prefer using them to others, but to say that "you should only use pioneer products for cds" is very narrow-minded. Besides, from what I hear their after-sales service sucks.

i agree %100 that a dj should be ready to play on anything provided - and play good.
that was not the point though.
i guess i shouldnt assume that whatever happens here in canada is the norm across the world, but here if a club doesnt have 1200's or pioneers - then well, its not very respected by many djs - as they usualy come to expect this stuff as the norm.
if i WAS going to buy cd decks it would be nothing except pioneers, becuse they are in my opinion the most logical, as well as becoming the standard (for a reason) and most clubs have them.
also, looking back at my post i might have sounded a bit harsh saying "everything else sux" - i admit that was a bit of a exaggeration, but seriously - why would you get any other decks if you know that pioneers are most frequent?
youd be kicking your own butt.

Who said I intended to get any decks of my own? I completely agree though that the Pioneer layout is the most logical, and if I were to get my own set it would indeed be Pioneer... but don't forget that many parties are not put on in clubs or indeed official venues of any kind - some of the best events in my country are set up by a few friends in a forest or disused quarry or hidden valley in the middle of nowhere. At these parties (which in my opinion are the heart of the scene and where the true underground spirit is very much alive and running free... although playing in clubs is also fantastic and, lets face it, pays a damn sight better than a free-party) you tend to use whatever decks are available - and many people don't own Pioneer!
