i have two tirn tables and a mixer with bpm display for each channel. when a track plays the bpm display keeps changing quite rappidley even in the monotonic parts of the track. is this supposed to b this way? shouldn't i get a solid display once the track is playing? |

Why you automatic bpmers? From my experience with them... they very rarely "catch" the beat. Believe me, tap bpmers are the best. |

Auto bpm catchers, sophisticated as can be, will catch the beat correctly only if you have a solid and clear emphasis on each beat (such as a bass drum) What you described is typical to dark tracks when the bass drum is fading in the background so the emphasis on the beat is very weak.
To see if your mixer bpm works try play somthing with a loud bass drum and with as little sounds as possible.
Any way, both auto and tap bpmers :) can only be accurate enough to help you keep the beat around the Cue point for about 2 minutes or less (in the good case) - Thats enough to get you through the mix, if you mix the contents and not the beats. If you want to beat mix in a techo like style you will need to trust nothing but your ears and a good pair of Technics decks...
