because when the rate changes the transients can warp and produce unwanted artifacts..that is more or less what I've read about it why it's needed.

i think it s cause it add more distortion too,i asked to someone that know very well digital audio (Undertow)cause i was wondering ,he said me to dither from 32 to 24 with a flat dither or low noise but dont remember why hehe |

24 bit ..... more resolution = more detail (or so they say), some people have told me that going beyond 24 is counter-productive, although the purpose is correct, the resulting file size make it difficult to work with.
24/48 - DVD resolution
