Hello all...firstly sorry a bad english...i´m brazilian...so..many times I read tips about bounce your midi clips to audio, and then work arround the audioclips...but I tweak and change my phrases, tones, fx...many times on along the music creation...and i prefer bounce to audio just when i finish the track to make the final mix...whole my track have about 70% of midi channels, and 30% of audio channels...by this way i can change everything at any moment without to much work...and then i ask..why bounce midiclips to audio when producing? just to have a more quality audio? or maybe to get less cpu load ? have another point to prefer audio clips? what is the advantage?

Thanks

less cpu load is why i bounce my midi... you can get way more tracks working in a project and you are able to put a lot of vst-FX(like delay, reverb, etc) on your audiofiles without crashing your daw... this is how it works for me...
for the change of phrases,etc.. i bounce different kinda automations,so i have variations of only one midifile and can chop them up afterwards...
anyway, there is no "right" way to do it... if u are comfortable with your style of work, keep it like that...
have fun while tweaking

Yes..Bounce MIDI tracks when you're completely sure you aren't going to want to tweak them later to save your CPU, but only when you absolutely have to. You don't need to bounce the tracks when you're done with the mix either..it helps to have them for live use and remixes, but if you need to do this, save the MIDI tracks too, even if it's in a separate file.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

In 2 situation I bounce 2 audio:
1-to get less cpu load
2-when I want to manipulate at left & right channel separately           http://www.beatport.com/release/cross-the-atoms/1042450

I only bounce (to) audio when I wanna do stuff like reversing the kick, or reverse a short part of some lead line, or do reverse delay/reverb eefects dropping into the dry source...etc
I have everything as soft instruments, till the final bounce now that my computer can handle shed loads of computations.

I bounce everything.... except bass... I like the idea of permanancy. if I don´t like the sound, then I make a new sound and remove the offending sound. but that´s a personal choice, because theres sounds you can make manipulating audio files that synths and samplers will take you forever to do... not to mention, I like to have the cpu for things I don´t like to bounce, like delays and reverbs etc... but for the most part everything is in audio... it helps a lot if someone would like to remix the project.... and you can always save the midi and the patch that you made if you want to return to that sound...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

also it is a good way to actually finish tracks instead of keep changing 'em           Signature:

It's definitely a balance. There are things you can't do with MIDI that you can with audio and vice versa. I found that bouncing does help me to finish songs and MIDI helps me keep a sound changing...depends on what I want.

Though when I drop to audio I usually save the the midi track and synth patch + effects in a Cubase Track Preset, in case I want to change it later.           ~Airyck~

thanks for replies!
on final balance...is that..audio help to finish songs, and get less cpu load...i will try bounce more stuff..keeping the midi clips/vsti presets saved...this process make more easy the final mix...

and a help with the tool...in ableton...when i flatten (bounce) my midi channels, All the Fx/Process plugins are bounced with the VSTi...anyone know a way to flatten just the Instrument? maintaining the Process/FX devices out of bounce?

thanks again!

Unfortunately, I don't think theres any magic available. As far as I know, you just need to turn your devices off then bounce.

actually i duplicate the channel...delete the devices from the duplicated channel...bounce it, and drag the devices from the original channel...but do this for 40/50 channel are so slow...

if anyone have a more easy and fast method...tell me please!

wow, i never have more than 20 - 25

I worked 100% midi before, but now i love bouncing. The main reason is that it's fun to drag audiofiles from one channel to another, so they get processed different way. Time-stretch and pitch-bend is fun also. You can get completely different souds from minimum quantity af samples working this way.
