I'm not sure if this question was asked before, but I've been asked by some people and I don't know the answer:
What is the word Boom we all say? They told me it comes from Boom Shanka, but what would the definition of that be? cheers

it is a sharp word wich I think that means like chears,eis ygeian in greek,as you said boom shankar
is like a mantra word wich is spoken usually before a chilum that is going to be lighted usually in india from babas who smoke with a ritual way,and they say that to give their respect to shiva and let him know that a chilum is lighted on his name,that helps to lift up the spirit higher with a good and positive karma.
