Hi mate, i think you have to catch the train to Salamanca(Spain)and next you have to go to Vilar Formoso or Guarda (Portugal) and from here you have to catch a train or a Bus to Castelo Branco and when you get there you have to search the best way to get to Idanha a Nova (Boom).
Cya there mate!

for train connections from Madrid to Castelo Branco (i think this is the nearest city, no trains to Idanha-a-nova) you can do a search through our czech search engine at http://www.jizdnirady.cz/JRCis.asp?tt=c&cl=E5 . It works for all europe quite good...
there is a connection going every day with one interchange and others with more interchanges....
for spanish railways use www.renfe.es but they have no international search between Spain and Portugal, only to the biggest cities like lisboa. They have an international info line speaking english and they will find the connection and price for you as well. Have tried this today and works
For portugal railways use www.cp.pt

This the web site, for National Transports (Bus). From everywhere to everywhere, inside Portugal!
Its in Portuguese, but you can phone them!
Probably from Lisbon, you should have daily bus. Check it. |

I think maybe the best way for you to get from Madrid to Boom is to catch a bus or a train to lisbon anda from there another bus to idanha-a-nova.
Hope you get there safe...
see you all in the dance floor! |

there's a bus - takes about 1 hour, from Castelo Branco to Idanha Nova.
You can book it on http://www.rede-expressos.pt.
It's in Portugese, but Babel Fish (at AltaVista) will translate all the hard bits.
Good luck.
See you there.
