ok, i wanted to say that one thing that bothers me is all this fake "positive" attitude, that seems to prevail on big part of global trance scene...and also people taking for granted empty phrases...for example, when somebody criticizes someone then they are automatically "negative", "spreading bad vibe"etc.etc.Whatever! Well, for me it is boring-BORING!-to hear all the time that everything is so great, so positive, so super, when its not...there is lots of negative things and we should be critical of them...well, this is Boom festival topic and here the people can give their criticisms of Boom festival...and for the one that said that there is all this bad stuff going on in the world so why people bitch about the price of one festival-well, apply the same logic and don't waste your time hanging on forums or going to parties, go and volonteer somewhere where people are dying of hunger, or accept the fact that change in any aspect of life is only likely to happen if people contribute to it,and criticism is one of the best forms to contribute...especially if-as we can see in this example lots of people who critisize do it constructively, because they actually BOUGHT the ticket, and are actually gonna COME to the festival...which of course doesn't mean that only buying ticket gives you right to complain...so, whats the hype?the boom fest is about the spirit, the vibe, and other parties are not?why does it have so privileged status?i've been to last boom, and it was one of the best parties in my life, and i will come this year again very probably, but whats all this thing about spirit?yea, its about the spirit and culture, and our spirit and culture is MUCH more then just boom festival, no matter how good the vibe there is...what-before there was boom there was no spirit and it didn't matter?also, if boom is about much more then just big names, then it also should be much more then the money!what mister analog is saying with "you eat or be eaten" is completely the opposite of the spirit we are talking about-its bullshit capitalist cut-throat competition logic at most primitive level, NOT the spirit that makes something unique and special and life-changing, as boom likes to promote itself!and if that is the basic attitude behind the organisation then all the deco and lasers of this world cannot make it any more positive and inspirational then Britney Spears gig...
if people complaing about commercialisation of their culture they have every right to do so!and should!and its NOT bad vibe!i am also involved in organizing festivals, and happen to know how much work, money and energy it takes, so i can say that with that price, that image and promotion and resulting number of visitors, togather with average prices for approximately 80% acts and DJs featured on boom is gonna make huge profit...if you apply the underground logic then do it to the end-you cannot say "this festival is not about stars and big names" and then put a price like big stars-oriented festivals(which was for example Samothraki with big names and almost no deco or anything else but music)do!or you telling me you gonna spend some 50000Euros for a deco!?
as i said, i will come if i can, and this is constructive critic, but people are right when they say this is too much of a price for line-up offered...and i would really like to see if there would be such hype about this festival if they decided to make it without music at all, put just workshops and lectures and performances and deco..would then there be 13000 people, coming for the "spirit?"and how much of you here would come?ok, peace and respect bye bye

@Kobayagi
Zdravo,
If you manage to come to the BOOM than be careful not to mix petrol for water like you did on Samothraki …hehe…

oh, and just to add:concerning line-up i wasn't implying that less expensive artists are also lower-quality artists, not at all...i am sure there is some new acts that can blow me/you/any trance lover away but are still not so known, and of course they deserve a chance-one day they will be "big" names, and it has to start sometime and somewhere, it is one of functions of inventive festivals, but as for now, less expensive artists must also mean less-expensive entrance...
and,NO,i don't have to see GMS or Astrix, and especially NOT Skazi(worst and at the same time most overrated trance artist in my opinion)to have a good festival, and possibly the DJ sets will do a fine job of counterbalancing the dominantly hard night stuff of live-acts, but why not diversity in BOTH DJ and live sets?
there is lots of full-on now that started with copying GMS but ended up being better copy then the original currently is-they are using the same samples for how long now?for me theirs last really kicking track was "Psychedelic circus" and that was out around last boom time...ok, i'm getting off-topic, so, if everybody could put their suggestions then i can also:what with Hux Flux, Charasmatix, Altom, Blowfish, Prometheus,Pixel,blablabla..this is actually pretty meaningless now that the line-up is closed and announced, don't you think?           www.underwater-overground.com

Zdravo Lilit!
Yeah, off-topic but..if you happen to be thirsty DON'T take a sip of the "water" from people sleeping by, better wake them up if there is no other possibilities to check with them:otherwise-as it happened to me-it might turn out to be petrol not water!
heh, well if nothing else, after that it was pretty energetic dancing by me:)

But how do you know what the artists are charging? The answer is that we don't.

The claim was being made that by not having an artist as 'big' as GMS or Astrix on the bill that somehow the festival would be cheaper. Having seen what they do charge, I'd be inclined to say that they priced themselves out of the market and it's no-one's fault but theirs.

They're flying at least 2 Australian artists over, and quite a few from South Africa - that's not going to be cheap no matter how you look at it.

Another (related) thing people are forgetting is that the rise in fuel prices have made flights more expensive over the last year.

Kobayagi, I accept what you're saying, but I'm not criticising the people that have bought their ticket in good faith and complaining about the price - I'm criticising people who either, like euphoria, are complaining that without the latest and biggest Israeli fluffy-pap-trance the festival will be no good, and Leuname's tendency to capitalise words like MONEY all the frigging time, just moaning about how hard it is rather than provide a workable alternative - it's expensive for all of us... we just have to work harder to do the things we like, and that's life.

Touche Psycherelic! You speak sensible thoughts. I think this thread should have a subtle change, like how are people getting there, renting cars? bus? and perhaps organising to meet up to put faces to names when the festival is on.

This scene is not about bickering (although could have fooled me recently), but about expanding horizons - not just musically, but through experiencing new things and meeting new people...

Time to spread the love (cheeeeeeeeese) and look forward to what promises to be a truly amazing experience

Peace
chamaso

Enough with the line-up talk already!

Will anyone who's been to Boom before (at least once) please post a few tips for us virgins: things to bring along, stuff to see or do while there, etc. Any new information will be welcomed!

P.s. What are your thoughts about the line-up? ;-)

If you can - bring a gazebo for your campsite to create some shade for your area. Nothing will be better if you position this to block your tent from the sun if fancy a bit of a lsleep in comfort.

Also - bring a drop or a flag to put up at your camp and let your friends know what it looks like....nothing more frustrating than hunting around 7000 tents looking for someone - they all look the same after a while!

a3k, some people know how much Boom festival organizers offer to some artists! If the ticket was 30 or 40 euros, it would be ok, but for 80 or 100, is not acceptable.

Also, a Trance festival, is all about music! So the dancefloor is very important!

Most of the people come because of the music, otherwise, it would be a rainbow gathering!

In my opinion, this days, trance, is all about money! Some people don't accept that, ok!

But still my opinion!
