Hi people!! I´m the boy with the "minimal is not psy, don´t fuck my drop" in the back:
First of all I want to apologize if I have disrupt the minimal-dancing to someone with my painting in my back, this message was for the organizers who made the line-up, not for the dancers. Also I want to say that I LIKE ALL THIS NEW STYLES OF PROGRESSIVE, in fact, besides my main project of making psychedelic I have an alternative project involved with the electro (also some house-minimal) sounds in the trance scene. It´s true that I like this "neo-trance", but we don´t have to confuse some concepts: WHY PSYTRANCE WAS BORN AND WHY MINIMAL, HOUSE, TECHNO WERE BORN. The first one was born with a clear goal: to dissolve our ego DANCING WITH SYNTHETIC&ACID SOUNDS, making a feeling of community and "oneness" with the others dancers, making the experience a path of self knowing and growing, LIKE A AYAHUASCA CEREMONY, being the dj like the shaman, thats the point why it´s called PSYCHEDELIC. Also the psytrance has a hedonistic reason to be, we get pleasure while dancing on it. Dancing progress-minimal also you get this pleasant feelings, but the MINIMAL was not born with the psychedelic spirit, it was born at techno-clubs, so it has a CLUB SPIRIT (the club music goal is to enjoy the music by itself, get pleasure with the sounds and be happy dancing with other people. Thats lovely too!!!). Again I have to say that I enjoy the club music as well, but It´s not a shamanic experience, your ego is still here in this world, you don´t get "the other world, beyond the concepts". So, my point is: this new "neo-trance" is a club music, not a shamanic music (it´s MINIMAL-TRANCE BUT NOT PSYCHEDELIC). Why I did thousands of kilometers to Boom? To get in trance with thousands of people, having this massive-shamanic experience. Dance minimal with hundreds of people I can do it in my city all weekends. Do you get in trance with minimal? If yes, congratulations, your chakras are totally clear, but we are many many many people who don't (lots of people stopped me to make me photos and give me agrees), anyway the paintings in the bodies at Boom 2010 was a spontaneous revolution started because the non-sense of the line-up, not just because the minimal. Minimal from 12.00 to 20.00 (yes, no alternative electronic-dance option during the day, just minimal!!!) is too much to bear with psychedelic substances. Yes, they (the line-up makers) fuck my psychedelic experience...
Finally I want to say that also DOCTOR BOOM has given us the reason, as you can read in the "letter to boomers" they say that THE MUSIC IN THE DANCE TEMPLE DURING THE AFTERNOON WAS TOO CHEESE, AND THEY ARE NOT GOING TO REPEAT IT FOR NEXT BOOM...
big embrace to everyone, WE ARE ONE...

I sell F1 because I am convinced it is by far the best system available today.
Their systems are used by a wide range of artists/gigs including Jamiroquai, Moloko, the main stage of Glastonbury festival, Brian Adams, Underworld, Zutons, KT Tunstall, Kaiser Chiefs, Mona Foma Jazz festival, Kenwood lakeside festival (classical), Jackson Browne... surely not only electronic music gigs.
The reason why F1 is so strong in the dance music scene is simple: because dance music is about sound. The live thing often seems to be more about looks, whereas the dance music thing is definitely about sound.
You can like or dislike a system, but say that F1 sounds bad is just as saying a Porsche cant make cars.
Maybe as you said you have been fed with so much low quality sound that your ears got used to this sonic mud?
Or maybe it is the artists fault, when they play through ableton live (surely not the best sound available), or play mp3's like most djs do... (on this topic: http://303.bg/files/various/DJ_Advice.pdf )
About Sequenza, I have never heard a line array system that convinced me... Sound always seems distant and the stereo image is very poor. Read this and you'll get what I mean http://303.bg/files/various/Reality_or_Soft_Focus.pdf )
Anyways, I invite you to listen to whatever music you dig on our system, and I am eagerly waiting to hear a system that sounds better than the resolution5+F221.
Peace

Hi Syntesis - I think you are the trance Taliban.
I think you should go and see your ayahuasca shamanic gurus and try and find some healing for the negative energy you are bringing in.
"Don't Fuck With My Drop" is an aggressive statement - surely it's not just about "your" drop. It's about a collective experience involving a large number of people who might not all share exactly the same concept of "psychedelic" as you.
Please think of it like this:- if you have a narrow definition of "psychedelic" it is not in fact a very "psychedelic" concept at all. "Psychedelic" by it's essential definition means an expanded set of awareness and consciousness parameters. By holding to a narrow definition of "psychedelic" you are in danger of abusing the term "psychedelic".

Somehow I do not think you really believe in this concept, that we are one.
But respect to you, nonetheless

Hi oyster:
1.- I´m trying this very important matter with respect, if your first sentence is to call me "taliban", this show wich kind of participant you are...
2.- Wikipedia: Psychedelic: psyche (soul), deloun (to manifest), so "soul-manifesting", please, don´t make up things like "essential definition", thats your opinion...
3.- Literally Dr. Boom says:
"In general we enjoyed the music that was played in the four music stages. We felt some of the DJs that played in the afternoon at the Dance Temple were not playing adequate music for a psychedelic dance floor."
"The Dance Temple revived goa trance with a massive response and mirrored perfectly the sub-genres of psytrance whilst taking into account the symbiosis between night and day music – we won’t repeat some afternoon music that was too cheesy for there though."
4.- Big embrace for all of you, also oyster. We are all |

About that LOOSERS with bodypaintings, placards, etc... What can we say? IMO they still stopped on time, waiting for the King of The Hippies come and play some 170 bpm music at midday! SHAME ON THEM.
|
|
sorry, but my perfect bpm are around 138 to 145, that´s called psychedelic style, and we are not loosers, we win this discussion, dr. boom has said it perfect "NO CHEESE STYLES IN THE DANCE TEMPLE!!" YUJUUUUUU YES, WE WON!!!!!
and again this kind of posts show wich kind of people you are, your arguments are insults, no words... |

To me Boom's still the best festival on the planet by far.
Sure there's always room for improvement...sometimes it seemed the timeslots were decided on at random basis, but fuck it...as a whole the Boom experience transcends the Trance festival concept and it can be nothing short of life transforming. The amount of love and care that goes into this whole enterprise is something truly special and serves as a great example for human society today. I heard some speaker say: "we're the 5% that's gonna make a difference" and wandering around at Boom, surrounded by all these beautiful people certainly made me feel that way.

for me too... best festival on the planet. Truly a visionary art fiesta with simply no competition in Europe. Very grateful that I've been there...wouldn't miss it for the world. |

Did anybody hear Shiva Jorg play? My friends were saying his set was cut short by half an hour. Does anybody know why?
I was not there but my friends said they had a blast. I think I will be going in 2012 for sure.

psy is in your head mate
from my point of view and personal taste most of the minimal tracks are not psychedelic at all and are really boring to me - but there are exceptions
on the other hand, i dont consider 90% of the so called "dark" trance as psychedelic - or none of that gabber 200bpm crap as psychedelic either - matter of taste
btw - fucking on drops is something you might really regret doing |

sorry, I know the word "fuck" doesn´t sound very well, but I made 1.500km and expended about 400 to 500 euros (ticket, travel, etc) TO DANCE PSYTRANCE (I don´t like dark, so it´s supouse I had to wake up at 5.00 am to dance psytrance?), I don´t find another word, my english is very poor, if someone give me another better word I promisse I´m gonna change it... |

nothing matters
not the music
not the decoration
not the soundsystem
only the vibes which was the WORST i ever felt @ outdoor festivals on this level
it was just horrible
too many bad energies from ppl around (organisation included)
one conclusion for me-way too commercial |
