I think it is fair to point out that a typical 24hrs at the Dance Temple went like this:-

20.00hrs - 12.00 midday (16hrs):- Full On Psy (ranging from classic Goa to dark/hard)
12.00hrs - 17.00hrs (5hrs):- Progressive
17.00hrs - 20.00hrs:- break for cleaning etc

You seem to want to eliminate the 5hrs progressive period. This is quite clearly unfair! A lot of people like progressive, and it works well in the hot afternoon. As well as Ace Ventura in the progressive period there were acts like Perfect Stranger and Son Kite and DJs like Emok (Iboga Records).

Yes I agree the programming between acts was a bit unweildy at times, but the basic format was good.

Let's have less of this genre fascism please - it is definitely not a psychedelic attitude. The psychedelic family has many different branches and we all come together at Boom.

Respect to all!

Hi man, sorry if with my message you feel not respected..its not my intention, and I think I dont write anything to you feel unrespected...anyway, sorry.

As simon says, the artists you say, dont play progtrance...so far...

Its not a discussion about bpm...its style...and the way that lineup has been created...senseless IMO...totally diferent sounds one after other...

I dont like minimal/tech but I respect the people like, I have a lot of friends, also Djs that play and like minimal/tech. The problem is all days, after 12...1am..just that kind of sound at mainstage. I dont know but the manifest of people translate the things for me. And also, you have a entire stage for that kind of sound...so, you have 2 stages with minimal/tech stuff at ALL afternoons.

I never said that we need to eliminate the prog time, but in that time, any day you have prog trance...just prog-house, techno, minimal, tech-house, and stuff like that. And, if you have a exclusive stage, all the time, for that sounds, why put too, in mainstage? and why All days??

I like to many things of Boom, like the cleaness, that place, see a lot of friends...I get fun, for sure...but Im there because the psytrance...and I like hear trance also in the day, prog trance also, and I cant in Boom...

hope next time...

this "guy named Gerald"
is actually "a guy called gerald"

and he is one of the most famous electronic music producers ever- a legend
he is responsible for much of the early acid sound and was at least partially responsible for inventing modern drum and bass.
respect.

just FYI

this says nothing about the timing of the sets and that stuff...
just to know to have a little respect for the guy.

Ocelot good thing, pointing out what legend "a guy could Gerald" is...
1987 I bought a single of him.
I could not believe my eyes when I arrived to Boom and saw him in the line up.

And the same with Antaro, Such Legend that so many of the new people do not know who he is.
It`s a Shame!!!
For me I saw him for the first time at the summer of 1995 at a private party outside Gothenburg, still today one of the most magical set I ever heard.
Found myself in the tsunami a couple of years ago because was going to his new years eve party in Krabi.

Boom did a good work bringing Legends to this years Boom (Green nuns etc.) hope they will keep this up to next Boom, we need to bring some of the Goa feeling back (something I Love about Universo Paralleo, the goa vibe they have)

Back to the Music, I actually Love Prog in day time, and do not have to keep it so slow, in the last BOOM 2008 I think Dj MArtin did a splendid job at the Saturday midday/afternoon by playing Prog that really rocked the dance floor, I love to see him back at Boom next.

I think the Music was fine at this Boom, it could have been better(Yes), but I could work with it and it kept me dancing every day, even since my feet`s was full of blister(aj, aj, aj).

One of My favorit set for this Boom was Mapusa Mapusa, 2 hours perfect joy.

dear mister ocelot ...

first of all i knew a guy called gerold ...

second even if he is a huuge legend ...i didn't like the music he played ... its a matter of taste ... may others liked it ... but hey even if hes a legend ...can't i have an opinion about hes music ...
i'm also not a huuge fan from Juan Atkins (musicwise) but still i have respect of this "kinda legends" ... does it mean to show respect when i would lie and say i like their Music ? ...

second about the respect point of it ...
this guy called gerold actualy started to put loops and claps on top of my last track wich were totally out of timing ... i asked him niceley to please put them off ...
to me this doesen't show much respectfrom hes side ... i never would do it ...

But nevermind mister ocelot nice that u so involved in all of that           www.myspace.com/freakulizer

well... what can i say... this festival was again HUGE and MASSIVE... maybe a bit too huge for me - the walking distances between each area were too much with this heat going on and because of that i missed alot of spots (unlike boom 2008) which i really wanted to see (what can i say im a speaker slut and if it aint close to the dancefloor im not there ) - the people are what made this festival so amazing for me... absolutely crazy gathering of tribes, arts, music and just really the best company anyone could ask for - top that with a beautiful beach, a full moon and an extremely well decorated (except for the uninspired dancefloor) and thought after concept... i had a blast!!!

there are some major downsides tho... and for me they all have one thing in common - the music!

as many have complained before and during the festival - the music choices of the afternoon (with the major exception of liftshift - one of the festival highlights for me and definately the biggest surprise by far!) just killed the otherwise crazy lunatic madly energetic vibe that was going on (atleast infront of the stage and the front side of the left speakers ) - everything was explosive and then a set at 13:00 or 14:00 just scrammed half of the dancefloor away to the beach and its a shame

on another note - one of the major reasons i chose boom over ozora this year was the lineup - as i expected several oldschool legends to play retro sets and was greatly disappointed too many times - i really expected gus till to play some slinky wizard, and was disappointed by almost every oldschool artist with the exception of my highlights: Green Nuns (WHAT A SICK SICK SICK GROOVY JUMPY FUN SET!!!), Filteria (!!! - really showed the oldschoolers what real goa trance on the dancefloor can do), sandman (probably the best retro set along with green nuns and mwnn), MWNN (why the hell was he the only goa act who got to play during the day?! didnt the organizers hear about melodic morning goa? - also - i would really appreciate it if he played the original teleport version and not the remake ), christof/absolum, zen mechanics, liftshift (!!! wow... what a mad energetic set - this is what progressive trance sounds like! no electro/tech/houise crap... this is the real deal!), 28 (great fullon set like brazilians deliver ala the first stone), dickster (energetic as always), shane gobi (always delivers), haltya (whoa crazy funky music at nighttime), troy (sick tunes i usually cant dance to, but was a VERY good set).

i missed a few acts i really wanted to hear like master blasters (if someone can review their set id be really happy - this is a very interesting project), system7 (was 20 hours at the dancefloor already that day... couldnt hold on for the last set ), lucas, joti sidhu/saikopod,scorb, oood, johann bley - and got disappointed from others

the food was great as always and there was a huge dining area so it was all good and comfy

one thing i really wanna commend is the cleanliness of the facilities at almost all times - this was exceptional! and on another note the tripical beach was brilliant! well worth the long march

ok im writing too much so ill continue later on

BTW - if someone maybe found a small red backpack with a drinking tube and a chillum infront of the backpack in a blue wool cover - please let me know! it has sentimental value for me

thanks to everyone who made this such a great experience!!!

It's A Guy Called Gerald. This guy is a veteran who helped to create the DnB scene, after taking part in the London/Chicago house and techno scene. I don't know what he was doing at BOOM because back in 1996 he was featured in the now legendary Trance Europe Express series and said in the booklet that came together with the CDs (I have it, for the envy of my friends) that trance was the worst kind of electronic music, just thump-thump-thump and a lot of lunatics banging their heads. And take into account that he said that about Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Orb, Inner City, Friends Lovers & Family and others that was doing what is now classic trance tunes. What was this kind of guy doing at Boom???

Freakulizers...u got no clue....ignorance is not an excuse...(ur set was just a filler and a boring one...do you wanted a minute of silence so ppl could clap clap to you ?...technosets do not stop for this kind of bullshits).
at least some respect...without ppl like A Guy Called Gerald you probably would still be listening to Bob Marley.
(get urself some 808 state music and learn).

I agree with him...actually....trance is the worst kind of electronic music ever produced (Deadbeat said the same when I took him to the main dancefloor at Sonica 3 years ago).

A Guy Called Gerald was the best danceset IMO at the groovy bitch...probably the only real acid music played at the all festival...the rest was testosterone.

ohh mr. founder of techno himself is speaking ...

so its not common in techno to have a own taste as well ?
i never was into acid ... so whats the point about it ?
Is it inacepteable to not like the music from a legend ?

I never liked public enemy ... but still there is some decent "hip hop" ...
i have respect to those ppl ... but do i have to whorship them ?

So for u my Set maybe was just a filler ( i wont cry ... as u have ur own taste and i will let you your taste and not try to make my taste to yours )... I think there were enought ppl who don't share your opinion ... as i sayed music is a matter of taste ...u got yours i got mine ...

And what u sayed about techno sets don't stop ? when u been last time to a technofestival ? If u ever have been to one ...

last time i heard juan atkins playing he had a 3 minutes break before him and a 5 minutes break after him for Adam Beyer to start ... but nevermind ...probably it was just a very silent oldschooltechnotrack inbetween that i probably didn't understand as my knowedge in techno is too little ...

and honestly i like to hear when a other dj starts hes set ...and i also like to clap for a dj or live when he did a good job ...

BTW i even have a State 808 vinyl Is that not amazing ? can i put myself now to the oldschooltechno listeners ? or isn't it enought to be as "techno" as you are ?

Ohh and amazing deadbeat is your frind ... u got 5 respect levels up for me now

I never sayed a guy named gerold played bad ... i just sayed it didn't have a flow in the lineup ...
I only sayed he played some kinda downbeat olschooltechno ... didn't he ??? ... If u understand this as "bad" then its your own intepretation ...

I got a grip...yeah.

Deadbeat is not my mate, neither AGCG...we only met few times sharing the same stage and we share the same taste for trance...ehehehe.

I hate breaks between djs...the best party is when the music is soo good all the way that u even forget that there is a dj.
(it didn't happen at boom but I didn't even expect it from a supermarket dancefloor like that).

now even the tekno scene is poisoned by rockstars (like Adam Beyer and all those handsome playboys)....who like clapping.

oldschool ?
AGCG sounded to me much more fresh and advanced than your new school.

btw...talking about oldschool...
the best tranceset IMO was Joti's old goldies....sounded amazing and soo forward compared to all the rest of the blah blah.

ps. maybe now that u got spiked at the boom you will like acid music more.           "There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain will never improve, and that's here." Aldus
