| is that it? here´s hoping they will announce more acts for the main floor.
quoted from their website:
People have become increasingly pigeonholed, fundamentalist and orthodox. On the other hand, quantity overcame quality, “superstar” live acts and pop ideology overshadowed underground music and cross-pollination. Psychedelic means “mind expanding”, surpassing boundaries, breakthroughs, non-conformist attitude and getting to know new (music) worlds.
I for one have trouble making that otherwise nice statement fit with the lineup so far presented. true there is some i consider to fit in with that on the lineup, but as to surpassing boundaries i am left wanting more. I find the lighter side of the festival quite nice (even though i don´t listen to it) the addition of Psychopod is ace!!! i still get goosebumps thinking of stop the carnage. For the deep night i find very little that represents psytrance of today in the way i envision the state of it. Some of what will play in those slots is more likely to scare people away rather than to give them an experience they would otherwise not have had. Maybe i do have a very narrow taste but then again i have high expectations to this music in general seeing as how deeply profound an influence it has had on me over the years. If i am to do my precious ears in, it better be to some seriously groundbreaking stuff.
Hard to please everybody i know, but please try harder anyway. |

i second that, good thoughts!

Well
It would be nice to focus on a wider picture when talking about music at Boom...
Do not forget those guys are not only about a psy-trance dance floor, there is chill out, world music stage and the groovy beach stage. As they say on that text, they are into breakthoughs and psychedelic music is wide and in different genres - that's what i love in Boom. They are cutting edge on that.
When i see these comments it seems we are evaluting only a line up of one stage. That line up for me is amazing, plus they are putting together the old and the new acts representinmg all sub-genres of psy-trance.
I'm excited to see the Live Sound Tracks show, where OOOD is due to play.
Don't you consider this innovation? Psy-trance and cinema? I never saw that in a psy-trance festival. That's what is missing in psy-trance, new concepts and i'm excited to see this one.
It is difficult to match everybody in a dance floor as it has been said but i reckon a wide representation of artists and i'm sure that will rock the house! Even better is Android Jones, the next level of visual psychedelic!
And what about conventions? They put together a big picture of psychedelic culture, unique in the world and we should be thankful of what they are standing for so long.
BOOM BOOM BOOM! I'll be there!

Psynema is audiovisual concept. It is not a live band playing a soundtrack for a movie. I love psynema, they rocked last Boom btw ;-)! |

What has boom team against Twisted Rec. artists?!
In the 3 previous editions i never seen ONE artist from that label!!
(Ok, Tristan played 2 times but for some years he is a nano records artist with that type of sound...)
Is it because the money they ask? For bringing Absolum, Electric Universe, Azax Syndrome and even Skazi in the past, i don´t think that´s the reason...
Is because they produce terrible and boring sounds? With the new wonderful shpongle album, the recent and great Eat Static oldie sets and the genius Simon Posford showing ecletic ideas that almost none of those artists in that list would even dare to have!
So...instead of so stylishing speaking about nice and fresh sounds you should not follow trends and by seeing that list i can immediately call it "a Boom kind of line up"...
At least there are some great goa acts, and congrats for that
Computer games don't affect kids - I mean, if Pacman affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. :D :D |

from Boom newsletter:
"The results have been recognized: we won the Greener Festival Award Outstanding Prize in 2008, we were featured in the first book ever published on ‘Sustainable Event Management’. Another book called ‘Cool Camping Guide to Festivals’ mentioned Boom as one of best practices for Enviromental Festival. Recently, Boom was invited by the United Nations to be part of the United Nations Music & Environmental Initiative that will be launched on March 22nd in Norway. Boom is the only no-logo, independent and participative festival to be invited by the UN to help people on environmental efforts through music and festivals."
United Nations and Boom relationed? UN are the biggest criminals and terrorists in the world. I have been to 2000, 2004 and 2006, and i would parahrase Raja Ram speaking about Goa @ 2000, Goa is not what it was, if you want to find what you use to find there, go anyother place...
Same applies for Boom.
They have done a really nice job over the years, all the team, from Diogo to Nena to the bartender. But if you want to to make me believe you really care about out mother earth, stop repeating sustainability, and start explaining to the world why the world is like it is, but sometimes is better to just do not think too much and just enjoy meanwhile thinking you are helping to build a new world. This is what my mother used to think when subscribing to Intermon Oxfam: i already help a better world....

that's really nice bashing PSYTOTEM, and i agree with you in a way.
So ... do you have any sugestions, or is it just drama queen random bashing?
this reminds me of a guys jumping of a bridge sreaming "goodbye cruel world!!"
yep its cruel alright, but what are you going to DO about it???
o wait a minute
"start explaining to the world why the world is like it is"
So what is it like? Do you know?
Well congratulations bud, maybe you could explain us mere humans.
Have you ever been to the conference area? Watched the cinema, and listen to the conferences? You would get a lot of information there, that you WONT FIND in any other festival in the world. (except one or 2, i think)
How's that for "start explaining to the world why the world is like it is"??
