Line up for main stage:

On the Boom 2010 dance floor we want to be active agents in putting more love and new meaning into psy-trance. The dance floor will have three themes:

GOA TRANCE

For those who were there, the goa trance era is unforgettable. For those who were not there, we thought that they should experience the good old music on a proper dance floor through a decent sound system! Before midnight one DJ and one live act play the old tunes – or the new-school goa – that inspired a whole generation of people to dance in forests, beaches, lakes, deserts, away from the daily routine. Only music mattered, even if the DJs didn’t mix with those old-school DAT players! We don’t want to be revivalists. But somehow we feel that reviving the spirit, the musicality, the amazing synths, the cosmic imaginary, will help us to enhance the mood and put some more ideas into modern psy-trance. Go back to a step forward with amazing artists…

PSY-TRANCE AND BEYOND

We invite DJs and live acts that represent the full spectrum of contemporary psy-trance: full-on, psy, melodic, neo full-on, experimental, suomi, dark, tribal, twisted, techy, progressive, or fusion. All these styles performed together to scale the heights of our fantasy and for allowing imaginative processes to take place.

LIVE SOUNDTRACKS

For the first time ever in the history of psy-trance, cinema and a live concert is performed together. We all know the cinematic potential of psychedelic trance. We all know that we need to add more concepts to the style we love in order to keep the evolution going. So, we invited a live act, we gave it a movie and the output is presented live at the Boom dance floor in one monumental session at the beginning of the night. Do not miss it!

OOOD (UK) http://www.myspace.com/oood

VISUAL CONCEPT AND DECORATION

Mind expanding our senses, we are bringing the cutting-edge of psychedelia, taking our perception deep into the realms of imagination. Connecting with the symbols of collective unsconcious and in sync with the magic of ancient futurism, the visual concept of the dance floor is tunning us with the soul of technology and the alma matter of the Sacred Earth.

SOUND SYSTEM

Keeping the tradition of last editions, Boom is teaming up once again with the fattest bass and the clearer sound system specially developed for electronic dance music.

Hi guys,
it's been a while since i've written in this forum. but i think a BOOM question is a good thing to come back with.
i want to go to BOOM, but have no idea how to get there. i know there's a BOOM-Bus from the airport to the festival and back, but unfortunately, i can't stay the whole time and have to go back home a day or two before it ends. so i guess the BOOM-Bus is not really an option for me.
can anyone direct me to information on how to get to and from the festival with bus/train as painlessly as possible?

its easy to get out of idanha a nova as cars go in/out all the time during the boom depending on where your return flight is from - but hitching/taking a bus to porto shouldnt be a problem

the problem is you having to leave before the festival ends... thats a big nono

but seriously now the boom bus isnt the only option and transportation is very easy - you can ask boom organizers about bus schedules from idanha a nova

is that it? here´s hoping they will announce more acts for the main floor.

quoted from their website:
People have become increasingly pigeonholed, fundamentalist and orthodox. On the other hand, quantity overcame quality, “superstar” live acts and pop ideology overshadowed underground music and cross-pollination. Psychedelic means “mind expanding”, surpassing boundaries, breakthroughs, non-conformist attitude and getting to know new (music) worlds.

I for one have trouble making that otherwise nice statement fit with the lineup so far presented. true there is some i consider to fit in with that on the lineup, but as to surpassing boundaries i am left wanting more. I find the lighter side of the festival quite nice (even though i don´t listen to it) the addition of Psychopod is ace!!! i still get goosebumps thinking of stop the carnage. For the deep night i find very little that represents psytrance of today in the way i envision the state of it. Some of what will play in those slots is more likely to scare people away rather than to give them an experience they would otherwise not have had. Maybe i do have a very narrow taste but then again i have high expectations to this music in general seeing as how deeply profound an influence it has had on me over the years. If i am to do my precious ears in, it better be to some seriously groundbreaking stuff.
Hard to please everybody i know, but please try harder anyway.           Mastering available here:
