I have "The CSound Book".
Its a huge 700+ pages volume, with anything and everything on synthesis you ever want to know. It comes also with 2 cd roms with a TON of additional material.

A lot of math, a lot of theory and background, and a whole lot of practical info.

If you understand this entire book, its like a doctorate in synthesis. (I understand maybe 50%).

For me its the best synth book I have, nothing even comes close.

Isn't that book mostly about how to program sounds in CSound? Off course one would need knowledge about synthesis to achive that, but does the book cover general and universal synthesis info too?

hey honguito
its MUCH more than csound.
Hell, I haven't even installed csound.

The practical exmaples are all in csound, but the information is universal in regards to synthsis. CSound has been around forever and is one of the earliest programs designed to make electronic music.
Understand that everything we see today, from vst plugs to modular systems to dsp stuff (like creamware) is all based on the ideas and concepts developed in csound.

If you want a book that reads like a dictionary (ie - adsr - an envelope used to modulate sounds) then this book is not for you. If you want a book that details EVERYTHING taken into account in digital synthesis - from software architecture considerations to the actual patches and sound making process, this book is a must.
