Recently I bought an evolution mk461c (MIDI controller keyboard) and now I'm really interested to learn how to create my own sounds in synths. I've got the Albino 2 softsynth which is a great one by the way.

Do you know any good book about synth programming? I basically know nothing so it must be a good guidance for beginners. I've been thinking about

Bharath, wow man, that link was awesome! This is exactly what I was looking for and the fact that it's free makes it even better. I'll print it out tonight and start reading it as soon as possible. I'll see if it covers all my needs, else I'll buy one of the books I mentioned above too. By the way, http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/024051517X/qid=1126259927/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/102-6157083-9994556?v=glance&s=books seems to be a hell of a good book about the subject! But maybe that one is about creating your own synths? I can't really figure that out...

Honguito, If you can try and get hold of the patches as well. Its about $10 i think for like a shit load of awesome patches!

Also, you will be helping the author!

I asked him if he could do something like that for the Albino, he said he will look into it! hehehehe.....

Anyway, good luck man!

Bharath, I know, If I like the book I'll most certainly get the patches too. 10$ is nothing and I think this kind of authors should get supported because it's a very generous project he's got there. Albino patches would be awesome because albino is the softsynth I've got. But patches for Z3ta and Vanguard is great too! Thanks for your reply man and good luck with everything you too!

I found some links att kvraudio.com to e-books and homepages about synthesizing sounds. This could be a good reference for newbies (like me):

http://www.mortmain.com/synth.html - this one has links to SOS "synth sectrets" series

http://www.ezy.net/~genoside/midiwarez/synthfaq.html - Beginner's Synthesizer FAQ.

http://www.access-music.de/pdffolder/Programming_Analogue_Synths_Tutorial.zip - Access put out this great beginners guide called Programming Analogue Synths to show off the Virus.

http://www.cim.mcgill.ca/~clark/nordmodularbook/nm_book_toc.html - James Clark's Advanced Programming Techniques for Modular Syntehsizers comes in handy quite often. It is designed for the Nord Modular, so it isn't always easy to apply to other modulars, but in most cases it works fine.

http://www.crca.ucsd.edu/~msp/techniques.htm - For some more advanced stuff, Miller Puckette's pd book Theory and Techniques of Electronic Music is fantastic.

I stole all this info from http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1294754
