My copy of Stephen Hawking's "The Universe In A Nutshell" says that a elementary particle is "A particle that is believed cannot be subdivided." So all in all they're pretty small thingies. They're actually very small thingies. They're infact even smaller than the diversity in the full on side of psytrance. No way? Yes, it does sound unbelievable, but do take my word for it, it's true! If you want to know more about them then here's a good site to start with http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/
If you went to Underwater Overground or Voov or Boom or Transit this summer there's a good chance you catched Bluetech playing. I did the Transit via Boom thingy and didn't to my knowledge catch him. Was he there? I don't know! I know I was. Infact I even know who's to blame. The finger points at Boom and Transit organizations. You know some people actually came there because of the chill out.
Prima Materia has been spinning in my cdplayer for the last couple of days, the thing is really growing on me. To tell the truth my hifi is still place unknown to Elementary Particles. I've rather taken a liking to Prima Materia. It's beautiful, melodic, atmospheric and most important of all, properly fucked. This is the album that was already released, right? How was I able to miss it? Was there a hype? I don't think there was! There should have been. There should have been a big one.
And now for something completely different.
It's been like two months now that I received this cd. And still at this very moment all that I've written of it can be found above. It wasn't supposed to go like this. I'm pretty lazy bastard, but still there must have been more to it. Back to the point. The album is good. It's way more than that. You saw that coming didn't you? But damn, you have to admit that it's a monster to review! Sure I could tell the basic shit like it's Aleph Zero's second release, first one being Shulman's In search of a meaningful moment and that the other cd of these two was released at some label already and umm, that's pretty much all I know. Well the guy, Bluetech I mean, his name, it's Evan. He also goes by the name Evan Bluetech, but seriously, that's not his last name now is it? I bet you a million euros!
It still remains to be decided which one I like the best. Elementary Particles lived in my sterea for around two weeks and now Prima Materia has a good ten day streak thingy going on. And this is the second round! No stand out tracks either, although I always and I mean always find that at some track (both album's got one) I find my concentration to the music increasing.
What the hell is the music like? In one word. The music is ”good”. In two words. The music is ”very good”. It's infact so good that it takes way more than two words to put it properly. It's sort of like classical music although it's nothing like classical music. It's sort of psychedelic but it's definitely not psychedelic in that eat mushrooms and take chemicals kind of way. It's more like comfy warm - that sky is sort of psychedelic and I like the stars - sort of thingy. Or the moon perhaps. The moon is big, nice, comfy and yellow! If Shpongle's ”Are You Shpongled” is the Death Star and ”Tales Of The Inexpressible” is Earth then this one is definitely the Moon. Why? How the hell should I know? It just is. Just like the Moon orbits Earth and Earth orbits the Sun and Death star could blow the whole fucking thing up in a second.
On the thank yous list thingy Evan tanks the Source, the Light and the Breath. It's a good thing he does for you can really feel their bid all the way thru. It took me like more than a month to realize but then it finally came to me. Just like a minute ago actually. I think that this album has that "not from our scene" feeling thingy. You know. You don't? Nevermind then, because I don't either. But anyways that's one of the strong holds of this album. It's as if this guy Evan has never ever before heard of "our music" and so he's doing his own style thingy, which granted, isn't that completely different to say Shpongle or Shulman or well you know the general psychedelic chill out. Now I could go on and on about this but if you don't hear it then don't. It probably isn't there anyways and I'm just audionicating. That's a new word for sure! Actually I bet I'm horrbily wrong.
The other reviews out there and here already describe the album to a point so there really is no point in going deeper. Have you come across a negative review yet? I sure haven't. Someone was saying something in the manner of "a bit minimal". I'd say he must have been listening to low bitrate mp3s for the sound is rich in this disc. The force aint weak either. =)
The artwork is beautiful, did I mention that yet? I don't think I did. J.Viewz of Violet Vision seems to only come up with quality tracks and a bad track from him remains to be heard. I don't see it coming anytime soon to say the least. Should you buy this album? If you dig the psychedelic side of chillout you probably should. If you're bored of psytrance then there's even more reason for the purchase. If you're just a mp3 lamer this one here is a great chance to change your way. Goes well on the same cd rack with Shpongle, Shulman, Ott, Life Is series, Kaya Project and all in all the ever growing insanity.
Now I should probably write way more, for this album does deserve it. Notice, when I say ”this album”, I'm actually talking about the whole release, both albums. But I have no words. You can't concentrate on writing when you listen to it and somehow you forget the music the minute it stops playing. It doesn't wear out that's for sure. Well that's it for now..
Massive respect for Bluetech and Alep Zero for this brave release..

thought I may as well post my review of this from OzTrance >>>
Elementary Particles
Elementary Particles
Starts with a soft melody. Nice bass sound. Very warm, spacious track. It doesn't progress much, just re-introduces the same themes & melodies with some minor variation in percussion.
Alchemie Dub
Dubby bassline that seems to be written a bit out of key or something? Seems a bit off to me anyway. Simple dub guitar lick after a minute & a half. Squelchy voice-like synth is replaced by more acidy sound. Nice melodies in the background. Some tweaking of vocal samples. Nice melodies at the end.
Cosmologic
Pretty nice, quirky track. Interesting melody a few minutes in. Slightly funky bassline & percussion. 5 minutes in & we've got some nice real sounds - hand percussion & a flute. Still not a hell of a lot going on though. A familiar sounding guitar sample comes in around 6 minutes.
Koinonea
This one's very dubby. He uses nice bass sounds. His sound is very clean generally I find. Pretty nice melody running around halfway through. As the song draws on there's a lot of subtle melodies going on but they're all in the background until the same melody from the halfway point reintroduces itself near the end.
Prayers For Rain (J. Viewz remix)
Now we dance to the beat of a different drum. The original was pretty much what made me buy the album. This one is redone in 'psyDM' fashion, with some interesting percussion work & a slidey bassline. The melody seems to be intact & unmodified. Very clean & tight production on this one. A nice key change a few minutes in as the vocal section comes on.
Oleander
Back to the dub influenced psy-chill. Not a lot going on in this track. Some tweakage & subtle melodies, that's about it. Some pretty tightly sequenced sound effects. One quite annoying synth sound. This one's not doing much for me.
Worthy
This is an ambient track with male vocals asking to "let me be worthy in your sight. Cleanse me with your" something "bring me to your safety" then something else. Very touching. Wonder if he sung this. Sounds like it.
Prima Materia
Leaving Babylon
Very clean sounds again. Some nice rhythmic stuff going on. Fair bit of arpeggio action in the background about halfway through. Some nice melodies. A bit of vocoder work towards the end is a bit annoying.
Prophetic Sines
Heard this bass sound on one of the tracks on the first disc, but that's OK because I like it. Kinda reminds me of some that Monolake uses. Some effected ethnic vocal samples float through the mix. Nice washes that almost sound like guitars. Again, not much progression throughout the track in terms of sounds & ideas.
Triangle (Retriangulated)
Nice start to this one.. nice soft melodies. Interesting rhythms. This is prob'ly one of my favourites from both discs so far. Just some really nice melodies.
Rubicon
Back to the dubby vibes. Hmmm, pretty annoying synth sound stabbing away in this one. Typical dub guitar sounding licks. Some nice melodies towards the end but on the whole this track doesn't really do much for me.
Prayers for Rain (In Dub)
Well this is the track I bought the CD. Heard it on "13th Moon" (Interchill compilation). Fucking sensational tinkly piano-like melodies dominate, with a dubby bassline bouncing along nicely underneath.
White Magnesia
This is a pretty nice dubby number. Some nice melodies & (what sounds like) guitar work. Some quirky, bouncey synth lines to bop along with. Bassline is pretty simple but the melodies carry this one through. Nice.
7th Phase Dub
This one isn't really doing much for me. The focus seems to be the effects applied to the dominant synth sound. While this song is quite well sequenced in terms of sound effects, there doesn't really seem to be much interesting 'music' until about halfway through when the guitar comes in. From there on in it's quite good.
Burning Waters
Pretty outta control arpeggio shit going on in the first half of this track. Some damn good percussion work going on in the background too. This one is very clean & tightly sequenced, though not so much that it becomes clinical - it's just right.
Mezzamorphic
This one's a bit too minimal for my liking. Doesn't seem to be much musical harmony between the layers, it just sounds like separately sequenced bits of sound tweaked for an enjoyment that I don't share. Good production though.
Desperate Ends
Slidey bassline underneath this one. I'm enjoying this... it's quite spacious & the synth washes are quite pleasant, while the melodies aren't done in sounds that push the point. Some nice arp-work that gives my sense of rhythm a much needed workout.
Cliffdiving
Just a nice piano piece to round off the CD. Bit of reversing going on to the recording in moments. Not much else to say really. Nice way to end the album.
All up, not bad. I'd prob'ly increase my rating from 7.5 to 8 outta 10, mainly because 7.5 seems like a pretty average mark to me & I think that this guy does showcase some serious musical talent. Perhaps as he matures his sense of song structure & arrangement will improve, as he tends to use the same sounds & structures continuously throughout the album, which gets a bit much after 2 CDs.

I have ony just discovered Bluetech's work. We are very lucky to have him living in Vancouver, Canada at the moment so he is making a name for himself very very quickly.
I am very blessed to have friends who expose me to music like Evans. I have never played out ambient/downtempo, and hearing his music has inspired me to do so, as well as complete a compilation mix with my two favorite tracks of his (Leaving Babylon & 7th Phase Dub).
Thanks for the incredible music Evan!

From blue tech interview :
Why the shift then?
I got to the point where I didn't want to be defined by genre. I wanted to see what happened if I just wrote what I was feeling, and kept absolute honesty to my own vision in the studio. The first album Prima Materia is what came of that perspective. I tried to forget what I knew about genres, and just let the music flow. It was a learning experience, and lots of experimentation with software helped achieve my sound.

Great work!!!!!!!!
i fall into the the 2 albums, my best is Prima materia!!!!!!
thanks for make this wonderfull music
peace:-)
