I see they are doing a Dreamspell school which looks very interesting....

But unfortunately won't be going due to Northern Green Gathering...i think it will be great though - the location looks fantastic and Boom always has a reputation the last (very messy) dance of the summer...

tom anteater was talking about going but i think he is laming out on that one....

hullo mr squid:)

Yeah I decided to go to Boom too with a few buddies...

did you see that there is an EXCELLENT looking
festival nr Bordeaux the weekend before? I am thinking it might be possible to do both (but maybe I am being greedy...)
let me find the URL...

oh yeah it was posted on Isratrance so i bet you saw it:

Anyway, the idea of dancing in a lagoon to blinding psychedelic trance in portugal I find strangely appealing:) Also thinking of bringing a dinghy or inflatable chair or some-such.

cheers,

I was at the last boom and while I had a great time meeting with friends from all over the world I was very dissapointed. Bad Sound system, Bad water (most of the people who drunk from it got terribly sick ).
I suggest that you rent a car with friends in advance, and do your shopping from a super market just to stay healthy and safe.

Be carefull of your stuff, don't bring valuables and if you do, do not flash them, everything was stolen including my tent by bloody U.K. crusties ( I hope your bus breaks down eternally thieving scums)

If the idea of a lagoon sounds appealing then why not choose the crystal clear sea next to the dancefloor of samothraki?
But if you are after dope then go to portugal, it is a pain in the ass to find in Greece plus ridiculusly expensive for not decent and proper,
If I were you I would have gone to Greece but I am Greek so it does not count.
Anyway whenever you go i wish you a great time and no problems.

..yup..Samothraki is beautiful and Last year was fantastic (if u didn't go I reccomend it).. but this year will be huge..... so I wanna avoid the throng and go somewhere I haven't been... ( Im also gambling that after the last 2 Booms were, according to all reports; poorly organised, poorly located etc).. this year they will get it right.!
.. looking at the cost of flights (to Lisbon) all tickets are up in the £180/£200.!?!?!?!?!?!?!? F££K IT.!.. any ideas?(other than driving.. or has anyone driven to Portugal?).. shit man ..1 month to go innit..!!!           ---------------------------------------------

holy! is that how much the airplane tickets are now?! i think this might finally scupper any thoughts i had on going!
you could try getting to europe on the ferry and then getting a bus from like paris or somewhere to lisbon (i'm pretty sure such a thing will exist) but it probably wouldn't be very pleasant, and would not necessarily save you any money...           >>love will tear us apart...<<

----has anyone driven to Portugal(monasticsquid)
yes.drove last summer from london to jerez (south spain)
Driving down can be a lot of fun, two plausible options, first and recommended, car>eurotunnel>little detour into amsterdam>>obliged stop at bordeaux festival the weekend before>>and give yourself a week to get down to boom, after bordeaux that is.
if you take the trip as a journey throught east europe it will certainly be a nice drive...
2nd option all the way down to portsmouth and cacth a ferry that will take almost three days to land you on north spain, santander, (very nice)
and make the rest from there....

And a good choice it is my friend!!! You will be able to dance in spectacular surroundings, to the sound of , imho, a very good line-up filled with many good (and not just commercial) names of the psy and progressive scenes. I trust you have all checked the site, but in any case: www.boomfestival2002.com

As for the concerns expressed by gkalpakas: to prevent loosing your stuff or being robbed, there will be a desk were everyone will be able to store values.

As for the easiest and cheapest way to make your journey I'm afraid i can´t give much advice, but I know there is a special bus, that will start in Nothern Europe, make a stop to the orejona festival and then will head south for the Boom. Check www.friendlybus.com

See you there

Squid/anteater- one of these guys i know suggested that as we were planning on being in france at the time (in nice, south cost) that we then take trains to portugal- i thenc almly explained it would be cheaper to fly, and that trains would take over a week to get there.

Over a week?!?!?!

When i went from Porto to Paris (in my inter-rail journey across Europe) the train took less than 24 hours to get there. Of course, flying is a whole lot faster, if you can afford it...

To Jingabi:
They did not steal my valuables I had placed them somewhere safe , but my camping gear and clothes was all gone.
And I am sure that the people who steal it did not payed a ticket.
