no difference, you would have to get used to the new environment...lose some time etc, I never liked FL (1-6) so I switched to SX3 after Reason

why dont you try a "try be4 buy" older version of SX3 for example , to work on it for a while and if you are happy with it go and buy an original 4 version
i have no experience with FL , i started directly with cubase and now im really happy that i have used to work on it so easily and the work flow becomes more & more quicker over the time .. it needs time though, but if you know the basic principles you wont have any problem , routings , sends, automations etc ,, also its killing for wave editing much quicker & easier than other programs imho, u double click on your wave and start editing , beside that u can rewire it with Wavelab for really extra professional wave editing ..
but its always about getting used to work on it as in any of the sequencers on the market . i love it

there is no demo version of cubase 4.0 as far as i know. i also searched for it some time ago, but there seems to be no demo.
also wanted to try, because you hear so often that it's much better than fl (what i use), but after getting some cubase lessons from a friend i can't see much difference instead of the interface.
if you are already used to the workflow in fl studio, stay with it. |

Just moved to Ableton from cubase
although, I still use both. I'm finding it way more creative/fun to arrange and produce in ableton, but my sound quality is worse in ableton simply because I am not focusing on the production side as much. |

I woudn't buy Cubase 4 until you try Cubase 3. I've read alot of problems with cubase 4 , maybe they are fixed by now , but still.
I know electrypnose was talking about being cautious of upgrading to 4, but he might have resolved his previous issues. |

I think sound wise there is no difference. Fruity lacks a little when it comes to mixing, something that they seem to be working on (according to their own forum) for the release of FL9.
I would go for whatever suits your work flow better.
What is the reason they gave you for switching to Cubase in the first place? Because if there is no valid reason, then I would not switch...

buy nuendo, almost the same then cubase, and connect it with flstudio via rewire:P
you can use a software you already know, and at the same time you will learn a new one:)
easiest, best solution imho
cubase using more cpu then nuendo believe me i compared both on same project file,,
best luck!
