first of all thx for reading my post..
im not trying to find out what ppl think.
Im trying to find the EXACT solution

My question is about Sidechaining in Cubase SX3.

i have no problem doing this with "Waves C1 Comp-sc" using the L>R method..
However..
the result i get of doing this will always be MONO..
Thats just not good enough to me..
i know that dublicating the whole project track by track and inverting the L and R panner can make it STEREO.. however there HAS to be an easyer way to do this..
i know for fact Gaudium and Sonic cube are doing this in a much simpler way by using Logic..

do you know how to make the sidechain output true stereo in SX3?
please help hehe

here is a good step by step method of how i get the Mono sidechain. (fake stereo)

thx to MantiK for making this tutorial.

if you have a mono source and what to make it stereo after the sidechain here's my idea... with the L->R (or the opposite) method the output you get will allways be either mono or all in either L or R. however (if i'm not wrong) you can use the channel sends to send it to a stereo channel... it's mono so (in theory) it'll become centered.

however, if you wan't to keep the stereo image of a track that was before the sidechain... i think you can't do that, at least with the plugins i have.

hi! I have couple ideas that could help you. I guess that you don't have creamware (or similar) soundcard, but this is also a way to go.

1. If you have asoundcard that supports more than 1 ASIO chanell you can set Cubase to run an external FX on ASIO ch. 3/4 and open another ASIO output chanell 5/6. Then use any VST host aplication to run 2 instances of C1 and set each to handle one feed and one sidechain ch. Bounce the resault and here you go.

2. Install Reason 3, slave it to Cubase and use McClass compressor on parts exported from cubase (i suggest that you import parts in the NN-XT sampler). It has sidechain plugs on the rear side and this works really nice. Set to desired gain reduction amount, export audio parts and get back to cubase.

My guess is that you want to sidechain something more than kick and bassline (imo otherwise stereo input would not be so important). Reason is excelent tool for such tricks. You can add an EQ to signal that sidechains the input signal and make sidechain frequency sensitive (like deessing the vocals). Unfortunaly you can't send a signal from cubase 2 reason so you'll have 2 export all parts 2 audio loops. If you decide 2 try this I strongly suggest that you try some reason instruments as well. You might find it very usefull since you can connect hundreads of instruments and effects without ever thinking about CPU consumption. Of course... mixdown and leveling the track is best when done in cubase. For that part reason would be a waste of time!           "It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. My discovery was the result of musical perception"
