I'm not from Brum but Spacehopper used to put on big psy nights in Brum - but dont think they've been doing much recently - check out the forum at -

which may be a good place to get info.
Not psy at all - but the Atomic Jam - a massive techno night always gets rave reviews from everyone who's been.

Tribe of Frog are in Bristol - which is just over an hour by car from Brum or a bit longer on the train - theres lots of other stuff on in Bristol - which is lot nearer (and arguably has far more on) than Brighton
In the midlands - there were a few nights put on in Leicester, and Cosmo Nuaghty was involved with something in Wolverhampton. Aura Orange in Wolves used to be a psy/goa crew in the mid 90s but sort of mutated through acid trance into hard dance.
London obviously has lots on & there are often cheap deals on the trains - but Brighton is abit of a treck - you may be better/quicker going to parties in the north esp if you drive - check out

Ho yes now i start to remember, i came from coventri to birmingham and its took like haf an our ,and from birmingham to bristol
i'ts like 2 our by bus.
