well me personaly had trouble to overclock several Asus boards, cose of them poor Bios and crap ram controllers....that was like 6 month ago....hope that they released better versions
..just a note: since i got Evga 680i SLI i finaly able to overclock E6600 @ 3.6 with no problem @ all, very stable and smooth
emm if u curios about p5w best settings, u maybe want to vist another palce http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/ but once again Asus is crap for overclocking, this days is nothing more than marketing trik

disable alarms exept cpu temp warning.
disable wake up on anything.
power off delay to 4sec.
i have the cpu multiplier set to 330 making the cpu to reack the 3.0 with no prob and with very cool operation for the e6600 but with a gigabyte motherboard.
havent changed any settings in memory timings or voltage.
very overclocked pc for audio isnt the best thing cos many stability issues can occur and heat problems.
is advised to have a good cpu cooler and a strong psu before attempting any overclock.

well its not the make that defines if a motherboard can be overclocked or not.... its the model.
the p5w is one of the best board out there for overclock.... you wouldn't beleive me if I told how far I pushed my system while i had the 6600.....
bios setting timing or voltage.
remove the auto , pass onto manual.
you need to set the timing supported by your ram if you have a 4-4-4 set it. the difference is very much noticeble
ram 2.1v.... its more stable... at least with the corsair 4-4-4- it will be in red in the bios because ddr2 normally runs at 1.8v if you have a good ram 2.1v is simply better ... ram might show up as 533 but its 800... (just make sure your ram runs at 2.1v it should be on the sticker of the ram ...
thats the most important. now if you want to overclock there is a lot more you can do.
cheers
if you benchmark now you'll notice there is no drop quickly ..... |

This is very true, I wouldn't recommend any kind of cavalier experiementation. Your computer will freeze or suddenly reboot if it overheats.
You need to make sure you install a software temp gauge that you can have open and monitoring to keep an eye on the heat.
