I've recently discovered the brilliance of bassist/producer Bill Laswell through his contribution to Tabla Beat Science.

I listened to a couple of other albums but the only ones that held my attention were 'A Navel City' and 'Trojan Dub Massive'. Bob Marley in Dub put me off though.

I seems that he's got a lot of stuff out there but I'm not really sure where to look now. I prefer the collabs to the solo work till this point. Any recomendations?

Yeah Bill Laswell can be amazing and he is definitely a pioneer in all the ambient dub stuff.

To me he is a gamble, he has so much stuff and a lot seems he is just experimenting or tripping out and can be boring or whatever.

Some of the cd's I like of him:

Sacred System, Chapter One: Book of Entrance
Hallucination Engine ~ Material
Bill Laswell & Sacred System : Nagual Site
(with sakir hussain in the tablas)

And there was anotherone called animalatia or somethig like that that had one track wich was totally in there in

it's nothing much to do with his dub creations, but laswell also made a very beautiful album with sussan deyhim, "shy angels", his versions of her sufi poetry singing... i highly recommend it

I saw him live many years ago with Tabla Beat Science (Zakir Hussain, Ustad Sultan Khan, Talvin Singh, Trilok Gurtu, Karsh Kale, Bill Laswell, Midival Punditz) Zakir Hussain went nut on the tablas, this guy is ZE master, warm & groovy bass from Laswell as usually. Would be curious to hear a new album from TBS after Tala Matrix.

wow, i'm jealous. "live at stern grove" is the most amazing live performance of anything I've ever heard. I'd pay so much money to see TBS
