Big Time FL6 Problem-losing tunes/Flps

For the second time in two days, I've hit "save" only to get an error "Cannot save to file-problem with 'x'sample", When I try to reopen it reads "cannot find .flp".
It was doing this to other projects I tried to open yesterday and they opened today without problem. Huh?
The two projects I lost were my most recent and were actually exciting me-not my usual style at all.
Dammit, does anyone understand this problem or maybe could suggest a remedy?
My copy of FL6 is legitimate, I just haven't upgraded because I like this version and I've lost my reg when I moved house last year.
I'm running WinXP on a Pent3 mongrel machine that has given me no other crap until now.
I only use it for music, I don't even have Office installed.
This has happened before but only when I have used the beatslicer. Needless to say I chop in a different programme now.
I've been working on this new one all week without worry until today and now it's gone. Is there a way to recover it from the zipped project file?

FL8 is so much better with so many improved features than FL6, you should definitely upgrade! There might be a problem with the registry code, try to explain the problem to Image Line and I am sure they should have your name on file...
