Excuse me my ignorance (ignorance is bliss, as some might say), but with all those labels, being into psy- & prog. trance/house, and with all those new labels keep poppin' up (you're doing a great job guys, all of you!), which labels are considered being big/major?

It has nothing to do about "Who's best" - But I consider f.ex. Inner Sound as a small label (please correct me if I'm wrong), and Spirit Zone as a quite major/big/large label - but as I don't listen to that much trance at all, and admittedly, don't have any clue on "what's hot and not", I simply don't know, which labels are considered as "the big ones".

I know your original question had nothing to do with best of but mark my words.... it will turn into a best of pretty soon.... Just take a look at the above post from dj nadav
Anyway when it come to major labels there aren't that many around if any. Simply because most labels in our scene are considered quite small compared to other actually major labels.
But I guess you can call Spirit Zone and similar labels "major" because of their many releases and lomg time existance in the scene.
But who's "hot" or not is a very personal interpretation and you will end up with many different interpretations
My list of major labels (not a personal "tastelist" or opinion of who's "hot")

Quality or being the best has nothing to do here.
Size wise
the 5 big labels are AOL/Time-Warner, EMI, Sony, Vivendi-Universal, and BMG
No trance label is even remoteley close to that.
sales wise in the trance buisness i'd say the big ones that are still here are:
Spirit Zone
TIP World
Hom-mega
B.N.E.
Cosmophilia is quite big as a distribution but it gathers together quite alot of somall lables.
Phonokol is quite big but isn't exclusiveley trance.
and the new upcomer to that seems to be Vision-Quest.
Wake up and smell the cofee buisness wise our scene is not small, it's Tiny.

for selling less than 1000 copies per CD.

e.p.s: spirit zone sells 1000 copies of theyr work ?...seems strange to me...however

SZ does sell 1000 copies (and even more), they have very good dist. with EMI.
