Hey friends..
I was wondering how the pros create these big wonderful lush reverbs on pad etc..
Is it hardware?
example coming in at 1.13
sounds cooler on the album, youtubes low quality
Ohh yeah. fiddle and boom. Ableton addict :)

You actually don't need super expensive reverbs in my opinion. Some very old VST reverbs I have can make reverbs like that.
Just keep tweaking and it will get there.
Long decay, no pre-delay, Hall setting or whatever it says - stadium, you can sidechain the reverb to the kick (in this example this isn't the case), and it's up to you to decide if you want the full dry sound coming in too as well as the reverb sound.
On the little stabs, he put a gate after the reverb that makes the reverb cut out after a second or so while still maintaining the long reverb sound.

thanks for the fast reply Obelizk
another q then; im using reverb as a send effect, to save cpu power and to have the same "feel" of atmosphere on the sounds (not drums/bass) so that is a bad idea?

Space Designer is good, also Lexicon recently released software with their legendary PCM algorithms...there are IR algos for the Eventide hardware units to import into your IR plug ins.
Bare in mind that its more important to leave space for the reverb tails to be heard and enjoyed, in a lush manner, than having expensive gear.

If you want something cheaper than the Lexicon's which are beyond anyones pocket size I recommend that you check out Audio Damage's Eos.

+1 for logic's space designer. i've tried a lot of different reverb plugins but always come back to this.

Ray Space and Oxford reverbs can do that easy. You can automate the decay (or the amount of send or both) to give more fx.

i like UAD's reverb. I didn't hear a lot of good words about their verb, but it works for me very well. It is able to produce long crystal clear feedbacks. I use it a lot.

ir don t have modulations so you can forget that classic lexicon lovely sounds that work so well in trance(and in every kind of music i guess) , dunno about the sample you posted haven t listened , you should try the lexicon or duende x verb , to be honest some of the best reverb of the past just sound like shit comapred to these ones.they will sit so well in the mix and sound like a part of the source, not somethig you add on top .
