You want psy trance, you have to live in Tokyo. But I like the scene in Osaka more than tokyo. Thats because the scene in Osaka is more new, and they have a good crowd. They dont have a very big scene compared to tokyo, but they have a warm crowd.

Living, Tokyo costs a lot. Jobs you can maybe go to the embassy, or just look around in english magazines for jobs in the tokyo area.
i dont know much about how the international people get their houses and stuff, but i think they just go to roppongi or shibuya look for the free papers written for the foreigners and they find everything they need.

Hey PsyFlip.

I live in Tokyo, but I used to live near Nagoya. Tokyo's scene is much more developed, but with that comes all sorts of nasty things like violence at parties (what's with that?) and other forms of ugliness. I really loved the scene in Nagoya. There were definitely enough parties and lots of big names came through. I don't know about now, but I NEVER saw violence at parties, and even the big events had NO SECURITY (unheard of in Tokyo, for everyone's safety).
Tokyo does have a certain EDGE which could be exciting, I suppose.
Websites? I find some useful info for foreigners at http://www.gaijinpot.com/ (but keep in mind, like most things in this world they are supported by their advertisers).
If you want more info or opinions, please send me a private message (pm).
Good luck!

Psyflip,
I guess my point was that I don't agree with Hikari-san that you have to live in Tokyo if you want psytrance, and that he's right that there are usually warmer crowds elsewhere. There are parties happening all over and the less developed scenes often have better vibes. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy living in Tokyo, and having several events to choose from each weekend is luxurious. But there IS life, and very good life, in Japan outside of Tokyo (including psy-life). When I think of Tokyo as a city, I first think "rat race" - it tends to take more of my energy than it gives. Of course, everyplace has its pros and cons, I guess it depends what you're looking for and from what perspective you're coming.
Anyway, glad to hear I may see you on the dancefloor soon!
