I don't think he was asking about XP, but that link does have some tweaking stuff for Vista as well...so I guess you're in the clear

vista = resource hungry crap ...
and it lacks drivers for audio hardware.
best tweak: uninstall it and just use XP

My laptop hardware doesn't have drivers for XP...So some people have to work with what is available.
It's good to find out info about stuff like this for those who have no choice but to use vista...or sell their computer and buy an older one

never heard of notebooks that do not support XP
(i do system integration for some well known company ...)
think every serious company has signed WDM drivers for their gear, which support 2000/XP/Vista.
in fact, Vista was never really accepted by the market, almost the same like with Windows ME once.
may i ask which notebook you have?
also, got any experience with WaveRT audio drivers?? http://www.myspace.com/realtimeproject |

most important thing probably is to disable Vista's user account control service (UAC),
to prevent these (for advanced users) quite useless interuptions ...
and most of the tweaks for XP should work, too. http://www.myspace.com/realtimeproject |

I have a Dell Studio 1535 laptop...
Came pre-installed with Vista 64bit...
I've never used WaveRT but I've heard it's better than ASIO

better then sex!
no i didn't use waves rt neither, however i'm a vista user for maybe 2 months and it works fine here. sure it eats more resources but still my core 2 duo and 3 gb of ram is enough for my work.
i don't use too many vst synths in one project, i try to use more hardware leads and other sounds.
all i wanna say is that vista is not that bad as people say.

maybe not thaaat bad ... but unless there's drivers out for the WaveRT interface ...
i think XP is more suitable, since it got much smaller memory footprint
and you not have to tweak it that much to free up resources and make it handy.
also it didn't support my Alesis MIDI controller (what made me laugh on it).
on XP it's just flawless plug'n'play

you know theres nothing to argue about 'coz its a matter of taste i guess and maybe things you are used too. sure there are issues now but they will be fixed, if you remember all microsoft OSs weren't ideal in the beginning, even our favourite XP has 3 big service packs. Believe me i was working on xp for quite a while to know what it is about
However i think its a good idea to start exploring Vista and learning its behaviour because this is the new os which will go the way XP did and take its place in future, you know. And if Vista works good here why not just use it.
To be honest with you guys i installed it because of DX10 hehehe.
I don't want to install XP again for now, however i accept the fact that maybe something will go wrong and i would like to uninstall it. And go to MacOS
But this is another thread.
