Recycle

you can try at least, its a very good tool for managing loops, i think you might get a good result
"Enter ReCycle and the smart way to make loops tempo independent. Instead of stretching the sample, ReCycle REX files are sliced into little pieces so that each drum hit (or whatever sound you are working with) gets its own slice. When you then change the tempo of the loop, the time between the slices is stretched, instead of the slices themselves." |

you can also try pitch shift the sample down, without time correction.
of course this isn't the same since it changes the pitch, but sometimes this will do the job too, if timestretching causes too much artifacts.

I would recommend upgrading to Logic 9, but that depends on your needs.

If its drum loops, or generally audio with apparent transients, you already have the apple loops application, which is basically apple's equivalent to Recycle and opens up as a library in Logic where you can audition loops in real time (with a fader as well) to see if they fit the tune before you import them.

why not chop the samples out of the loop and re build it to your needs.
175-145 is quite shit to use timestrech i never heard single program that will do it perfect without the metalic sound.. sometimes better just to love that metal and get rid of many headaches lol but slicer will be better. if you miss some 'end' for the samples then maybe add reverb or simply replace it with other sample that can fit...

honestly i feel u will loose the actual charm by makin such a huge stretch.... ....instead chop the sample out.... i dont noe how it applies in logic but its very simple in Fl studio
right click on the sample and
open in fruity slicer channel and ur done... |

also ableton live8 or 7 seems to be good for this job, the warp engine got some better in 8 but 7 should do the job too.
u can choose different warp modes there for beats/perc, tones, re-pitch (which causes the djs well known mickey mouse effect), and one for complex audio. dont remember about 8 actually, just had a test license of it, just remembering it was some more precise and not that metallic on beat mode.
anyway i agree with elad, from 170 to 145 is a pretty huge step where u would go better by chop and rearrange imo

i totaly agree
it needs more time than simply stretch it but u avoid all sideefects, plus u can develop it as you wish and your creativity takes its part here
so you can get variety of loops that will fit your track evolution from one simple loop |
