alot of the time a good chunk of bay area stuff does not make it to Isra. There are alot of private local lists, you need to work yourself onto, plus Bayraves.com is the main above ground event board for regional stuff.
I will cut and paste and post info on a upcoming a event i do not see on here.
There is a Tantra party on the 22nd with Mad Max

There is also http://www.galaxyraver.com/ although it is now invite-only. There are a few events which get posted on there and not on bayraves (bayraves is a little too popular with the high school crowd). |

Why are trance lists so hush hush? Its really tough to find good parties if you haven't been to good parties.
Its like jazz in the old days or something... Is it 'family' or 'cliquey'? Any thoughts?

yes Vantuzi, it is family and cliquey. There is a very much a desire to keep things on a certain level and to keep certain elements away from the events.
Granted some crews advertise more to certain sectors of the e.d.m underground than others, in order to draw from a different following or fan base, but esp, in SF the majority of the scene is family vibed, and even tho it faces a shrinking scene, there is a effort to maintain that feel when it comes to event promotions.
Its also a security tactic to maintain venues and protect the few spaces we have.
You can always go to Synchronize on Wednesdays however, and usually learn about whatever is coming up that weekend

Steps to get into the scene:
1. Come to Synchronize (SF) or NoizeMakerz (LA) <- weekly gatherings
2. Get your foot in the door.
3. Shake what yo momma n poppa gave ya. Don't stop shakin'.
4. Introduce yourself to random people - often.
5. Don't be afraid to embarrass yourself aka 'act a fool'
6. Prosper.

It is too bad synchronize is 21+. I have lots of college friends who are 19 or 20 who I am sure would love psytrance but it is hard to enjoy the parties if you have not first met and talked with the regulars at synchronize. |

Actually, Il Pirata is a sports bar, but there are few people there on wednesdays besides trancers. |
