try to understand the synthesis and make your own, otherwise it will sound like the start of your first myspace track.

Good way to start doing synthesis is learning it from presets. MOOG BASS-preset is lovely for starting point. And here's couple .fxp psybasses for Sylenth1 too: http://www.sendspace.com/file/bwls7m |

Right then, dunno if we ever had a "best synths" thread, but here goes.
Put your favourite synth (software or hardware) for 2010, for different tasks. Obviously you can put the same synth for exmple, "basslines" and "leads" if you use the same.
We could also put compressors, EQs, modulation effects, reverbs...etc but lets just keep it to the synths for this thread.
Bassline: Trillian
Drum machine: Ultrabeat
Leads: ES2
Atmos/pads: Sculpture
FX: Korg MS-20
For ease of posting copy/paste the categories and add your favourites.

Leads:
Atmos/pads:

Peace out.

Might have to check out Surge considering it's getting a few mentions

Surge is very nice.
It's got a very nice crisp sound character, with great modulations. |
