there are quite a few sound system brands on the market. for specific music styles there are specific systems, e.g. dynaccord for rock.

but what is the best system for psy trance? some names like EV, Turbo Sound, or dash are quite commonly found. do you know of any other systems that got that crunchy crystal clear clarity?           www.frakasoundrecords.com

I have seen good things from Turbo Sound and EV, but more important than the speakers is having the proper power amplifiers and someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to tuning the sound system. I have even heard good things about some of the Mackie systems...

I am not too sure about the self powered systems though..           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

The best system I have ever played on, bar none, was the Opus rig at Omni Festival last year, which included the outdoors debut of the SuperSubs, a 20-foot horn under the stage which output roughly 6KW of sub down to 17Hz. Opus is crazy - they build their own amps and crossovers as well as the speakers (I think they may even make their own drivers), and is the only system I know of that needs no EQ. No graphic or system controller - just basic crossovers and custom amps. And it delivered the loudest, clearest, punchiest sound I've yet heard. The sound engineer was the one and only Plank (Steve Wood), possibly the only PA engineer to get his name on the flyers of the parties he works at. The man's a genius and a lovely guy to boot; when we do our world tour (lol) I'm taking him along

Turbosound is pretty good too, if it's set up properly, and Nexo make some full-on kit. I find Mackie actives a bit harsh-sounding myself, but there's no denying that they're powerful for the size.

I heard this orders (two stacks L&R) in indoors was very warm and crispy and dimentional :
Mackie Fussion 3000
Mackie Fussion 1800 S
Mackie Fussion 1800SA
Surprisingly I also head them outdoor (4 stacks all front-ends L,ML,MR,R orders) still f;n blasting even from 300 feets distance (from my tent) but than as Voice of Cod say they have slightly friendly harshy floating (for outdoor). Other orders & other Mackie series I found not so great.
Best sound I ever experience was last TDC New Year Eve party (super sonic and thick). I will find out what was it.

For small venues the USAT's and turbosounds are great... Easy to set up, a monkey can install them, and great clarity for the price, at least, i think they sound clear...
