Hi
I've been mixing for almost 9 years now, and I'm looking to spice things up a bit. I currently use Traktor DJ with two outs to the house mixer, plus vinyl (when decks are available).
I would like to add a sampler to my rig. It needs to have some sort of MIDI interface to detect BPM from Traktor. Sound quality is also very important. Oh, and it should be as small as possible.
What's a good, "cheap" sampler that could mesh well with my rig? |

If traktor allows for VSTi's to run, I suggest that you get a midi trigger pad set to run with NI Battery :
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Korg-padKONTROL-USB-MIDI-Controller?sku=702910
^ recommended, and worth the price
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Akai-MPD16-USB-MIDI-Pad-Control-Unit?sku=705564
^ cheaper and not as good durability
If Traktor doesn't let you use plugins I suggest you switch to ableton..things are better there even for DJing imo anyway..
If you don't want to just use USB midi, you're gonna have to pay $1000 or so for an Akai sampler if you want something good, plus the cost/work of getting all of the samples for it..
I have some Battery banks if you'd like..PM me if you decide to go for it..
imo your best solution to this is the Korg Padkontrol with Native Instruments Battery..
If traktor doesn't allow VSTi's |

cheers for the info.
i'll double-check Traktor and get back here.
the problem with Live is that i don't like auto-beatmatching, as it means i'm less engaged in the mixing process. plus, I legitimately own Traktor, while i'd have to buy Live. also, going from turtable to Traktor and back is easy, while mixing Live into a playing record seems to be a little tricky. |
