						| Ive decided to add another CD which touches me.
Its not pop but what the hell you can learn more from it than pop songs/album I reckon.

 Philip Glass - Company/Violin Concerto/Akhaten

With classical its less about production and more about the recording and the performance, conductors do make a difference. The production is minimal utilizing quite often just some parallel compression, maybe some mild EQ and a little limiting. The dynamics can be breath taking. Something that is often missing in so much electronica. Im not just talking of volume but timbre and spectrum.

Anyone who's interested I would recommend acquiring the CD and laying back with a spliff of glass of wine or both or whatever your preference and giving it ago. Don't skip through it just let it do its thing. The structure and song order really works and can teach you a lot about putting an album together. Which unfortunately the pop world struggles with. You don't have to listen to it straight away have it there for a rainy day

						| Obvious yet nobody mentions: U2 - Pretty much everything after Joshua Tree is amazing sound wise. (Daniel Lanois)
All stuff by Nigel Godrich is excellent (Radiohead, Beck, REM, Travis and more)

 +1
Nigel Godrich - hail to the thief. the instrumentation for that album most have been a tuff one to mix. Pulled it off though, what an album.

						| I wonder how come noone yet mentioned "Madonna - Sorry" Produced by the amazing - Stuart Price
He's also co-writter of this song.

Everytime i hear this pop song i blowen away by it's sonic quality and production.
For me, it is no doubt the best pop song production ever made. period.

						| Madonna - Frozen...
The new Placebo album Meds, is in my opinion overproduced compared to their previous albums. And I say that because it sounds like all the drums were cut up and resequenced like you would electronic music, and not like a real band playing.

Really great quality, and a really powerful clear sound, although it's fake sounding for a rock band.

						| what exactly is meant with best "produced" popsong.. is it all in total, arrangement composing, melodies, creativity AND sound quality?
or is it "just" the technical part of the sound quality that we talk about?... because if so, then why doesn´t anybody mention some labels that release highly audiophile music. really audiophile music. like for example german stockfish label that also makes test cds for bowers and wilkins for example... listening to that kind of music makes a (really fat produced indeed) madonna cd sound like a tape from the 80s...

otherwise if its about creativity and sound i ts a different story of course and i also would mention alan parsons, or madonna, or michael jackson for the overall quality of those releases..

How do those test CDs sound on a middle or low range stereo? Part of good production is making stuff sound good on a lot of systems, good and bad.
