I know that most of you will probably say San Fran but excluding the Bay area (to expensive) in your opinion where is the biggest and best place to live for a Psytrancer in the US?

I am interested on what the party sizes are, how the vibe is, jobs in the area all that good stuff.

It would be cool to have a cross reference map like the old trancers guide for the individual countries.
Thanx

Interesting question.

Just based on frequency of events, I'd say LA over SF anyway. Nothing against SF. Bay area and norcal rock. Just answering your question from a quantity standpoint. Also, SF isn't that far from LA and SD is even closer, both with their fair share of goings ons. Not to mention AZ is relatively close by for when their winter outdoor season kicks in. Taking all that into account, LA puts you in the middle of what's up on the west coast.

Big mix of styles from heavy psy, fullon, to prog. All great vibes and mostly crossover crowds between all the crews anyway. No attitudes as far as I'm concerned, great people everywhere. Average parties range from 50-300 people depending on the event with a few larger and smaller. Several indoor weeklies at clubs in different styles and from spring through fall there's something going on outside somewhere every weekend (many times multiple events). Be prepared to bundle up for a decent amount of outdoor stuff over the winter also.

As far as living, LA can be as expensive as you want it to get but you can get by cheap here no problem. Jobs depends on what you do. SF doesn't have to be expensive either, meet people and share space. There are lots of possibilities.

I'm sure everyone will have a different opinion on all of this. Should be an interesting thread...

Off to party right now daytime style at the park with Green Sector and Terrakroma, not even 10 blocks away, doesn't get much better than that.

South Cal FTW LA and SD - a party a month if not more! You get music of all kind and the vibe is tribal (desert and forest).

Otherwise, if you can survive the cold for 6 months check out Iowa. Iowa City is dirt cheap and super avant garde. Though as I said, winters a brutal but indoor parties happen within driving distance (MN, IL etc.) almost every month. Music is probably on the darker side influenced by lot of techno, house, d&b (though I havnt heard much of those genre but from what I have heard and listening to music from other areas, it definitely feels so) etc.           Discover.Vote.Share() - http://www.beamto.us

Yes, I must agree on Iowa. Not only have we adopted the name "Psyowa", we also put on one hell of a show.
If your looking for a family orientated, really friendly, kick ass trance parties, this is the place. It is out in the middle of no place but............it is quite rockin when we throw down. E'one here is really nice and with a down home attitude.
Iowa City is a college town so there is plenty of action goa'n on.
The downside.......Iowa is boring as hell when theres not trance parties goa'n on. AS HELL           When the music of a society changes,

Psyman: Hey, but times and circumstances change continuously! SF used to the undisputed psytrance mecca some years ago, but now some might beg to differ.

To me it seems like LA has a proper balance of events and musical styles. If not in the city, there is a good amount of offerings within a few hours drive (mostly Northbound).

Best is such a relative term, there are so many factors that can make a scene good/bad for you.

It's also really hard to compare scene to scene if you haven't lived and partied there for a while. Acidity used to live in Iowa and now lives in SD so he's got a perspective on those 2 scenes.

I really like the midwest. Even though some of our parties may not be that big or have big names, all of our psy parties are loads of fun because of the people. No matter what the party, where it's at or how many people are there, we always bring the heat. Some of the best sets I've heard from midwest djs and best times I've had were at parties of less than 30 people.

I also think all of us djs and promoters complement each other well in that we're not scared to share real criticisms of each others work. Any review of music or a party has plenty of constructive comments in it that I think are VERY necessary for us to grow and grow in the right direction. Almost as important as the comments are the fact that promoters take them to heart and improve on them the next time around. Anyone who's been out here can see the enthusiasm we all share for the music and the scene .

I think that now since a bunch of people in the scene are graduating college and will have more time/money to focus on parties/music, our scene will continue to grow and improve.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

what about other factors like where do you wanna live? find out which places have somewhat thriving scenes. Use that to narrow it down then choose where to live based off of landscape, cost, weather, etc. or just choose where to live solely based off of psytrance whatever works best for you .

I would have to agree on LA as well, outdoors are limited for a few months in the winter (still indoor scenes are plenty) but other than that there always seems to be something going on and amazing local talent from california as well a lot of intl artists that come down

depending on your occupation, I'd highly recommend SoCal/AZ/NV/CO/NM. Jobs seem to be pretty easy to come by (at least, here in Phoenix), events are never more than 10 hours away, and the drive between events is some of the most scenic landscape you'll ever see in this country.

If you're looking for a cheap place to live/play, I'd recommend the Midwest. From Minnesota to Texas, you'll find hundreds of cities and communities where all kinds of jobs are available, housing is uber-cheap, and events are not as hard to find as they were five years ago when I lived there.

Can't say much about the East Coast, but I hear it's an amazing scene and not as expensive as people think.

To anyone who is looking for a new home in the USA, good luck. There's a little something for everyone. If you end up in the AZ area, make sure to drop by and say hello.

I started doing Psyevents in Portland OR with Synergy & Apollo's Lute, I really loved our scene down there die hard trancers and hippies with a good family vibe at most of the out door events. We helped throw and play at events in a few other spots on the west coast had a great time but felt as if I needed to help the scene here in CO. Denver has been nice to, but the events are smaller and dont have much of a fallowing. There are lots of college kids just looking for a party... I hear stories of how Denver used to have a nice family vibe but then something happened and now a lot of the old school die hards are jaded on the scene. I guess thats why I felt I needed to be here, to help rebuild?
My wife and I are feeling like we want to branch out again and maybe try feeling out where our next spot could possibly be.
Thanx for all your responses I am definitely going to look into some of these spots. I really doubt that we will end up back on the west coast...
so much new area to explore.

Psyman: I will try to search the forum but i do believe that time changes everything.
Also have you ever tried to Search on Isra?
Every time I try I get a bunch of shit that has nothing to do with my search... sup wit that?
Thanx again
