I'd like to hear peoples reviews of outdoor party venues within 3 hrs of Tokyo.

Been to Tamagawa Camp Jo - I like the stream running through the campsite, nice space.
Also been to Namesawa Camp Jo in Yamanashi - deep forest, lots of tree coverage, nice but small.
Tera Ikoino Sato in Shimoda, Izu - a few huge tipis, bungalows and big log house but very far.

I heard there is one in ChiChibu.
Can anyone give me reviews and recommendations for outdoor party venues close to Tokyo?           The music was like new black polished chrome
that came over the sky like liquid night.

try out Ski resorts, many are open to parties in the summer time since they do not get much revenue during this time. I have played at a few in Tochigi and Nagano, there are many many, I would suggest doing a quick search and callig them. Or PM me, maybe I can refer a couple good places for you.
Good luck,

Hey Spliffnik,
Thanks for that. I'll PM you. I've been to a couple of parties at Ski Resorts (in Summer).

One was Rainbow 2000 somewhere very far away, I think it Hakusan. That was a nice set up except for when I was peaking and that Indian clothing stall went up in flames next to me. Plus I didn't bring a tent and it pissed down.

The other one was somewhere in Nagano I think, this one had people camping on the ski slope - not very comfortable... or thoughtful. I like that whole ampitheatre thing and all like Vision Quest at Kodama no Mori but this was ridiculous!

I've also been speaking to a few other crews that put on outdoor parties. Some have a 3km house rule where there shouldn't be a house within 3km because they've had experience with neighbours calling the police and shutting them down. The other big consideration is parking, you dont want people lugging their stuff 2km to the party site.

Ahh, space! Its the problem in Japan isn't it? Not like back in Oz where you drive your car in and park next to your campsite. Still reckon Japanese trancers rule though!!! If only I can bring them to a beautiful forest in Australia?!?! hehehe           The music was like new black polished chrome
that came over the sky like liquid night.

venue is by far the biggest challenge, and there are no easy answers.

forget about a 3-km rule. three years ago we hit a hotel 20 km's away with our funktion-one bass!

sound issues are the biggest problem, i would say, followed by parking, cool owners, a flat space for dancing, and then a relatively flat space for camping. but the smaller your party is, the more options you have.

I have this incredible image of you guys hitting that hotel 20km away. I imagine your party on one mountain and the hotel on the next mountain and the sound waves traveling across.           The music was like new black polished chrome
that came over the sky like liquid night.

I once went to a festival in the beaches and the bass reverberated 35 km away. I know this because I went down to the closest city for get some cash and you could feel the thum-thum-thum in your body. One nice beach I know is Utsumi, 35 km distant from Nagoya. And people there throw a lot of parties in the summer, and it's pretty loud.
I like outdoor parties a lot, but here in Japan indoor sound systems work better sometimes (because of the volume thing). Plus, there's the air conditioning issue as well, and you know the summer here is truly an open sauna.

Peace and Love
