The best live acts I ever saw, in terms of actual things they did on stage where.
Man With No Name
X-Dream
Total Eclipse
Shakta
Hallucinogen
Kox Box
Logic Bomb
Hux Flux
Of course all that was back in the day where promoters would pay enough cash to fly over the artists' rider and/or rent enough equipment for them to have on stage.
Peace out.

ARRRGH dont remind me that I SLEPT THRU XDREAM LIVE and woke up 10 MINS BEFORE THE END OF HALLUCINOGENS LIVE at teh same party..... (but saw Shpongle and Ott together onstage whihc was cool and they did a sort of jamish thing)
I still kick myself hard for that......
My favorites are hard to pick but, Id say if I HAD to pick top 5:
1.Derango
2.Bluetech
3.Parus
4.Shapestatic
5.Polyphonia
with honorababble mentionating to Fractal Cowboys, Primordial Ooze, SunControlSpecies, and Grapes of Wrath (even though I slept thru most of THEIR live TOO)

This topic is off-topic and got nothing to do with music production or music making. It's a "look who I like" topic - nothing else (there are 100's of these on isra). Should be moved (or locked) by dear Anders who did not like or "got my point" in my joke topic (got locked with a joke from Anders himself) but strangely enough keep this one going...The world is a weird place

Excuse me, i don't know who the hell you are, but please, don't be a douchebag in this thread, and let me pick apart precisely what makes that a completely off topic and tasteless post.
1) This is everything to do with music production. Certain artists press play and do rather boring live sets (some of them great artists, nonetheless) but others are very impressive, tweaking and creating unique, one of a kind grooves largely on the spot.
As someone who makes music and is interested in live performance of EDM, finding and discovering other artists to study and even emulate is key.
2) Those "artists I like" were given 100% only as examples to direct this thread towards artists who added unique and truly "live" touches to their sets. Would you please contribute something useful and add one or two such artists yourself, regardless of whether or not they are your favourite artist?
3) There is a persisting sentiment of dislike on this forum towards the "just press play" like act. So this thread was an attempt to be solution oriented and discuss/throw around ideas to a new generation of producers who might like to incorporate interesting ideas into their live sets.
4) I believe - correct me if I'm wrong - most people here would enjoy seeing skilled, improvised, and ultimately groovy live sound sculpting. By sharing artists - and if possible, the techniques you saw them use - we provide a platform for interested amateur artists to emulate the artists who put effort and pride into their live performances.
5) Please take your issues with the moderation here elsewhere and don't pollute this thread or this forum with that kind of garbage.
Please correct me if I failed to get your point, but your assertion that discussion of live sets and sharing of knowledge has 'nothing to do with music production' is ignorant and insulting.

all the acts i mentioned didnt just press play when i saw em.
THey waved their hands too.
But seriously they did wave hands now and then, particularly the Tarasovs who really get into it and its infectious. Only one Im not sure on is Bluetech but he looked pretty focused on his macbook, convincing enough that either hs a good actor, or wasnt acting.
Of course, Ive never seen anything as cool as an OOOD live (not sarcasm ) but hope remains
Fractal Cowboys did some things to my brain that i didnt think possible, and the overall sound of their live is another case of either so good at fooling us, or not, cuz that sounded like live improv to me. I admit that my ears were a bit biased. Ohhhdamn were they ever... They didnt make the top 5 not cuz they werent good enough, but cuz i would have had 1, 1.1, 1.11, etc instead of orderly sequenced numbers.

Douchebag? Is that what it's called now when someone express his opinion? tsk...tsk... You seem like a very angry person
All I see here is very little debate and just list of popular names. That's hardly a debate IMO. If you start to debate serious then I rest my case. Otherwise it's just another popular contest of who can come up with the best list of names (it's been done a 1000 times before) and have absolutely nothing to do with music production/making.
I have no issue with Anders (admin). I was joking but I guess Scandinavian humor is something you do not understand

you stomped on a thread instead of contributing, and you made me an angry person, obviously.
so: please contribute, i apologize for responding with any malevolence when you were merely joking in preparation to say something on topic and helpful.
thanks!
