yeah it can still have his place.. but lot of the time it end as not as good result from just using the amp envelop for me , i did lot of test on this.. try to use some mod envelop as one shot and fine tune them.
depending the sound and settings using theme to retrigger with the gate, it sound like there is a few sample of delay ,it can be a issu sometimes

plus i think its about time folk started using wavetables and other osc types for psy bass, makes more sense to tweek the origional source than fire it through a shit load of plugs
Already there. This track is coming out soon as well.
Using the Virus C for bass with WT oscillator.

And here is a sample of a track I am currently working on with Ultrabeat doing the kick and Minitaur doing the bass.
I am experimenting with 2 VCOs on the bassline, one square wave and slightly mixing in another VCO with saw wave, an octave higher, both phase re-triggered.

the minitaur no comparaison with the massive one.. mate you save my big time with these set..all thought massive is good when i start something i will go directly at sampling my xs cause that plastic thing really bother me. it make it sound like 50000 other producer instnaely..also it s not as good quality wise imo. it lack depth ,not so good raw quality ,dunno...
it can do the job.. but it sound excalty what i dont like in lot of producer production these days

Well, there are pros and cons..and I see it like this...
Minitaur pros: I personally love that analog sound, its just phat and has character.
Minitaur cons: It does not really do the "modern" bass sound that soft synths do.
Massive pros: It is extremely clean and defined.
Massive cons: It makes it sound like all the other 5000 producers who make "modern" plastic psy-trance.
Remember the "choose your favorite bassline" thread? The soft synths came first. Not that it is proof of anything, but most people that voted, are people who actually make music them selves.

I think that is the case as well. Did sound phat when I was playing out in Goa, but I also think that Massive has this very clean defined, phat sound.

yeah in the end it s all about taste.. but i think most people that used old hardware won t like much plastic sound.. lot of new producers it s the only thing they know so it s not the same.
lot of people of our generation still think plugin sound like crap..i don t totally agree personnaly.. but i can t say they are totally wrong too. plugins music really ruined psytrance for me as i need the sound caractere to talk to me first to really enjoy the music

I hear you. But again, they did like the digital synths more...is it because they have been "conditioned" to like the plastic sound? If yes, then I have definitely been "conditioned" to love the analog sound. So again, there is no objective "best".

don't really matter in the end, just some personal preference true .
for me a style that rely all on synthesis it s kinda weird it s made at 90% with plugins.. so many cool stuff, eurorack macbeth moog culture vulture ect.. bring the gears it can t hurt.
i even wonder if it could be a reason of psytrance loosing fans.
i wonder how it would be if everyone had studio packed of gears just to compare

It would be nice, just that studio gear, especially the ones you mentioned, is expensive and in our days of economic crisis, not many people buy very expensive gear, not in psy trance at least.

Massive is definitely great. It makes very fat, thick kicks. And I like it's bass too. Now maybe I just don't know how to set up Bazzism (and I've tried so many times), but can't get that punch that massive does. Seems to make most of those thin full on kicks that popular nowadays though.
I watched the kick tutorial by WiseNEvil and then it made sense to me cause I forgot to turn on "one shot" for envelopes in massive, make sure you do that, now it sounds right.

advantage that massive has over bazzism is the envelope assignments to pitch - bazzism needs good eqing i find

totally unmixed, rought output ,sound like stuff from the 90s , kinda primate rec/ trance combo
updated with sorter release on kick bass, tunes are fucked up..
i m sure that sound like crap for most... but taht sound kinda talk to me ! add some good fx on top.. acid leads.. 100% rought analog sound wihtout any processing
Sounds massive over here! Nice one mate. Do a track out of it!
was trying the vermona for fun..even the bassline was made from the drum machine.. but it sound a bit strange, a synth bass would be better.
that drum machine could have good potential for psy..it sound more fresh than roland old stuff and phat and analog..will repost a sample when i experiment with it with a psy bass from a synth
