it depends of your stereo, how the track is mastered, and last but not least how big your tinnitus is ;-)=
---> just trust your ears...

I always keep it flat. Not only this, I keep everything flat... If I need some eq'ing, I use my stereo for that. No need to use CPU for stuff I can do somewhere else..

I EQ with my Live mixer, but it really is a matter of taste. I like my music with extra boost on the lower frequencies and some boost around the hi hats area.
Something like Wako writes.
This is what the pro's call the "smiley" EQ.
But this can be pretty harmfull for your speakers, as they really prefer flat signal.

it realy depends on what kind of music you are listening to... however try the follow settings
the 60 hz region should be a little bit lower than the middle but not to low as otherwise you just will hear the bass and bassline (this also depends on the soundcard and soundmonitors)
the 170hz region is more or less the middle... the best would be if you spend some time to work this out... mostly this just takes 1 - 2 hours.
the 310 hz region is a little bit higher as the 170 hz but for sure not that high as the 600 hz is (the 600 hz depends realy on what kind of music you are listening to). to make it easier for you, i've admeasured it. from the middle (the middle is where you see this tiny stripes) until a little bit more than 4 milimeters. this should be the perfect setting for the 310hz.
as mentiond in the 310hz section, the 600 hz region is not that easy to figure out as it depends on what kind of psytrance you are listening to... if its more acid stuff like pull it up as much as possible... if its progressive style let it as it is (to see what the default setting is, you simply can reinstall winamp)
the section from 1k to 16k is hard to say... mostly you dont have to change anything is it does not depend on what style of music you are listening to... but the most important is 42.
to set the eq is not that easy at all. for a profession it should just take some hours...
have fun and let me know if you need some more details.
cheers |

If you must use eq, use the preset which bumps your mid levels...
That's the best way. You'll actually hear the music instead of the boom tss boom tss

the simplest explanation:
the left is the lower freq. (bassline, kicks) and the freq. is higher on the right side. the middle is the medium freq.
that's a stupid yet simple explanation
