which URS? Are you saying that the 1951 eqs on the console strip pro sound the same as the 1980 ones?
Have you noticed that when you add 3 db and subtract 3db at the same freq on the 1951 model you clearly have a different signal to when you started?

That I could get it to null against the standard Digi III EQ. |

So, you are saying, if I were to build parametric EQs out of a Chebyshev, Butterworth or RJB Low Pass filters, the end result would be nullable?
This clearly makes no sense, and goes against everything I have learnt about filter design.

I don't know much about filter design. I'm not a mathematician. But if they null they null.
I still use the URS as I prefer not to have graphic of what I am doing as I tend to use my ears more. I was thinking of getting an outboard EQ so I tested my favour VST (Classic Console Strip Pro) to see if it would null against the stock EQ. It did. So i guess it is not really classic console sound after all. |

Well, it doesn't null against REQ, or Voxengo Gliss, or the Live EQ modules, or other modes of itself. It gets fairly close, but it doesn't null.
I'd suspect it to be the same with nearly all EQs, if they have different filter models, which they certainly can do, really very easily.
I guess what I view as null is more precise than other people.

to me a null equals complete cancellation. Like duplicating a track and flipping the phase on one. |

Which is curious ... as console strip pro features 4 very different models which don't null against each other ... wherever you set the dials - which EQ III doesn't. In other words, I simply don't think you are being accurate - so, as I cannot disprove you as I do not have EQ III, I'll ask for you to prove what you are saying with pics of playing audio noise, preferably around the 150hz mark so as to highlight phase difference up high of EQ III nulling against all 4 different modes if Console Strip 4 peaking EQ cutting by 7db Please be sure to include the mixer showing audio going into the channels, and nulling on the output.

urs eqs might sound a bit better cause of the nice looking gui and offcourse the price, placebo... how do you want a proper emulation ,these eqs are so light on the cpu, it s the same as the old uad plugs.. |
