Dont boost, i dont think you have to at all if you find the right bass and kick....
Though some synths needs a boost, How much and how wide or narrow is the experimentation!
Finding the root and giving in mild boost can give some more beef... But i cut in 99% of the cases

I don't tend to boost either, but to the point u could get away with it, think most of the bass synths and kick need a boost. I wuz cheking out some of tritones.
What does everyone think or do about this, is good to limit lo end if boosting for pure lo end warmth but not to much to the point where the room dilates to the size of your pupils on a weekend trip to Amsterdam ?

what about those tritones? hehe
i still think that most basses and kicks dont need boosting, i try and create and find the sounds that go well from the start.
If you need to boost a lot you aint got those sounds that work together....
Thats my opinion!
But maybe you are after a specific sound..

It depends on the synths you are using. I never boost the low end when making kicks with Ultrabeat. I never boost the low end when making basslines with the Logic native synths.

I mean say for example on my bass or kick channel I could decrease freqencies between 30hz-50hz and boost 50hz-180hz or whatever vice verser. aslong as one element gets a boost aslong as u compromise somthing for somthing if it needs it, so I'm guessing pultek style eq's do the job lo like?

I'm after sub warmth and fullness. My kick and bass is ok from the start, I just want to give it more, I'm constantly cheking the corners of my room and comparing with others, headphone checks to achieve what i'm after. by the way freeflow i'm not talking about a huge boost anyways

The corners of your room will resonate at a frequency(s) related to your room dimensions. This will not be a good indicator of how it will sound in another room and(or) system. |
