Hi people,

after the big turnaround where "progressive" has become more popular within the psychedelic trance scene, the big 'hype',
I have decided to buy a couple of compilations (and maybe a couple of albums) with ELECTRO/PROG/HOUSE/PSY/TRIPPY influences.

I have been sneaking and looking at different v/a’s like 'Trash Art' from Tribal Vision Records.
Is this a recommended v/a? Which other albums (preferred v/a’s) would you strongly recommend?

Thanks, and peace

Zenon rec is good when it comes to prog.
Also the older Iboga compilations are always spot on.
Zillion Mental Anarchie Records (ZMA) puts out quality stuff too.
For me the best progressive years were 2000, 2001 when it was still highly psychedelic and non-house influenced (which I really dont like)

you asked for v.a so here you go, these should get you started on a solid basis. Mind, this isnt the electro/house proggy stuff. Just pure psychedelic progressive, the way me likes. Not much stuff like this comes out anymore, pity. All is the housey/electro stuff which I find psychedelia level is brought down so low, it sounds like club music.

Intelligent manipulation (zenon)
A step beyond (zma)
Chrome (sub machine) (def get this, still play it regularly)
Eyes rollin (zenon)
Contact Lens (cosmic conspiracy)
Tryptamin (iboga)
A day after (more recent zma)
Z.M.A.RT
Set series from Iboga
The Remedy (zma)
Ethnobotany (Iboga)
Monarchie (the series is all good)

dig into these labels on discogs and you shall find a bunch of good releases. Enjoy mate.

Lemme just add I really some some the new releases too, Extrawelt and Minilogue to be more exact =) but they fall more under minimal psytechno for me.

Any Tribal Vision compo will have what you're looking for I think! One in particular that sticks out in my mind, is VA-Urban Legends. Also, LimeLight 2, Tegma-Around the World.... , and Fitalic-Atomic Atmosphere (This is a really good one, electro-tech-house-prog-psy, even a breakbeat tune in there)

+1 for the Set series from Iboga, also Dawn-Summer COllection vol 2

The only ZMA cd I have is Monarchie 3, and its a good one, if they're all that good, then yea, go with ZMA!

Likewise, I only have Sensient-AntiFluoro from Zenon, and if the rest is even similar, its good!

On a side note, I like house....           .

Check out the top rated releases on my review site:

Under compilations I give big marks to several progressive compilations: A Day After, Puzzled, Inner Circle, Set 5, Globalize, Refresh, Tokyo Underground, Street Art, Urban Legends, Permutations, and Chronika Chapter Two. That's just for starters...

V/A - Progress Froggy World [Froggle Records]
V/A - Blackout [Electric Power Pole Records]

Extremely trippy, squishy, bubbly, foresty nighttime progressive sounds.
