do you talk about drum synth or drum sampler?
anyways best choise is your own choise, something you tried for yourself. battery 3 or stylus rmx (loop based sampler) are one of the best drum samplers for sure. I personally dont use them and i dont use anything in fact because i didnt find anything convinient and stable (create percussion straight on audio tracks).
i dunno what about drum synthesis though, i use akai samples basicaly.
