Just for be clear :
-Jimmy Hendrix:
got 2 drummers, Mitch Michel (exelent) & Buddy Miles (ok, but not realy the best one)
- Ringo Star:
it suck pretty much, very bad drummer..
- Lars Urlich:
he take 10 years playing with metallica for be a descent drumer...
I agree for:
-Dave Lombardo
-Dave Grohl
-John Bonham
!!!very good drummers!!!
My best one i guess is, Jack DeJohnette.

In my book the best "drummer", "guitar player" or whatever are not the best skilled but the ones that do the best work in context of their collective. Ringo Star was excellent drummer cause he accompanied 2 geniuses and btw himself and George Harrison were very gifted musicians as well.

Wikipedia says:
"Back in the U.S.S.R." and "Dear Prudence" ... were recorded without Starr, with McCartney primarily responsible for the drum parts. McCartney's drums are most prominent in the mix, but both John Lennon and George Harrison recorded drum tracks for the song; these are audible in the left channel of the stereo mix. Lennon was asked years earlier in an interview, "Do you think Ringo is the best rock drummer in the world?" to which he jokingly replied, "He's not even the best drummer in the Beatles." |
