It's a tough choice but i would have to say

John Bonham from Led Zeppelin was arguably the best drummer ever for me...

a close honorable mention would go to Neil Peart from Rush...

and maybe the best drum solo ever from Ron Bushy in their track "in a gadda da vida"...from Iron Butterfly

...and ofcourse ustad zakir hussain although he's a percussionist (for me it's all the same what you bang on tabla, western drum kit, a log, the table...)

In my book the best "drummer", "guitar player" or whatever are not the best skilled but the ones that do the best work in context of their collective. Ringo Star was excellent drummer cause he accompanied 2 geniuses and btw himself and George Harrison were very gifted musicians as well.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

travis barker is one hell of a drummer.

despite the fact that he was playing at blink182 which are lets say a controversial band,he also had some great side projects like Transplants writing different kinds of music and showoffing all the time his breathtaking skills.
