let's make a powerhouse thread.. should we classify it as 'neo-neo-fullon' or 'banging progressive'??
and what do you mean it's not 'visor music?? than why bother? it's all about the visor, man.. all about being cool.. need something to grab your attention when there's nothing in the music to do it.
  ..it's just another party.. |

My top ten DJs (in no particular order)
Kife (Omnitribe) always plays well.
MachineElf (DMT) rarely plays psytrance but when he does it's blazin'.
Kamal (Dragontribe) played one of the deepest morning trance sets I've heard in while at the underground 55Lex party this weekend.
Alan (Gaianmind) is a top-notch dj, rarely sticking to any one style of psy.
Steve-O always plays very professional sounding sets.
Influx (Dreamcatcher) is a skilled DJ with impecable taste in full-on.
Jason (Subtlechaos/ Pulse) plays very cool psy-tek selections and has been playing immensly pleasurable sets in recents years.
I've heard some really good full-on sets from Dave Henshaw (Changmian) from Boston.
I always really enjoy FX>Mike (Alphatrance), his appearances are a bit rare these days though.
And Goa Gil may lack in production skills but I think he's one the best american trance DJs.
Unfortunately I havent heard too much west coast talent yet.

Barakuda has and always be my favorite DJ. I think that the word "Epic" describes his sets so perfectly. He has an ear for music that is unmatched.
So take that all you trainwrecking DJ's (right Bodhi? Hee hee hee).

dude, my neighbor's, like, really awesome. He can play, like, really fucking hard. and he only trainwrecks once in a while.
seriously, though, we're missing some kick-ass DJs here.. Lauryn, Paradigm, Malaclypse, KJ, Spyros, Dan Efex, Psylens, Ghreg on Earth, etc..
all good, all good. ..it's just another party.. |

I would agree on mentioning Spyros! Great DJ and a cool guy all around.....Great Trance vibes......And even though I don't care for the "progressive" style so much I think Dai does it with all the right vibes. Love his selection and psychedelic-ness. Mixing is great too.......

this topic is lame i think, but i've been suckered in....SO, in my humble opinion, the best north american djs I've heard are unquestionably INFLUX (now Luna), KRI, Knob, Kife, and Gavin(before he left)....watch out for the up and coming Dreamcatcher djs as well ;-) |

in addition to the nyc djs that have come up over and over and have the skills and dedication giving them the respect they deserve(luis, knob, and shaikid). . .i think that brendan adams deserves an honorable mention as an up and coming talent. I only heard him a couple of times but he handles high energy nighttime twisted madness with sophisticated musical understanding and admirable mixing skills. cant wait to hear him again.

this is a tough topic because i have heard great sets and poor sets from my favorites and not-so-favorite dj's. what i will list here is a group of names that have turned my brain to puddin on one or more occassions:
Mubali's live/DJ set, Bodhisattva 13:20's live/DJ sets(always better each time, guaranteed), Barakuda-Psyclops-&Spyros, Feelfree's old-school sets, B.O.B from integral/psycircle, Maxx & Wyse @ an integral thanksgiving, Treavor moontribes wicked desert sets, DR. Spook & Witchdokta at Love parade last year (wooo-haaaa!!),Paradigm, Christine & Aeon
also of notice, David Justin's wicked subliminal mixing(been a fan for over 10 years), Adam Wiggins, KJ @ Burning man 2001, Yaniv from Cosmophilia @ Burn man, Biodegradable's old dj sets before they split from Cali.
for boston scando sound i really enjoyed Ammon and Dino's grooves as well as Jake(can't remember dj name), Lauryn plays great stuff as well. Dr. M-it Brown in NC is rising the ranks too.
and lastly, two of my favorite vinyl-only psy jockies: Michael Liu and dj Feather. both of them throw down incredibly fast and furious, Feather usually rocks 20-25 tracks in an hour set.
this is in no way a complete list, I still feel that i have many more djs to meet and listen to them create on stage. these are mainly the most memorable ones. the harddrive in my cabeza gets a little fuzzy sometimes. |
