what about KJ? what is wrong with you people?
and djSF who has been tearing up the scene in San Francisco for years! the most amazing sets ever, hands down! if you've missed djSF's sets, you've never lived!
but Ghreg smells the best!
and Psynthetic has the best foot wear!

Hels i agree. I think dj's are defintely pumped up more then theyre worth... as a dj, i know that all im doing basically is mixing (well ) 2 tracks that some incredibly talented artist(s) made. I believe thats where the talent is: in making a track and being able to play that: as an artist in your dj set. otherwise we are no diffrent then the loathed tiesto or oakenfold etc.... i wish i was in a diffrent category (artists), but im not.

i totally agree with you on these guys.. a great combination of track selection, flawless mixing, and dedication to the music.
of course, there are a lot of trance djs here in the states that are probably really good, but that i haven't had a chance to hear yet. a lot of the folks up in new york have quite a following (influx, the omnitribe guys, beserx, etc.), but since i have never heard them play (or heard any of their mix cds/tapes) then i cannot really comment on them. the same goes for many of the jocks out in sf (ghreg!), la (jeto!), fl (OA!), toronto & texas... i would love to hear what these guys can do, be it live or recorded.
now of the people that i HAVE heard, i've got to give the nod to...
gavin (spectra nyc)
moksa (athens ga)
dj dragon (mississippi)
kri (asheville nc)
cyzum aka dj hybrid (dc)
nick tornetta (seattle wa)
derby (chicago il)
boppity (detroit mi)
alex (tennessee)
and of course...
michael curran (atlanta ga)
i don't mean to brag, i don't mean to boast, but i'm intercontinental when i eat french toast! oh, how i do love shameless self-promotion..

this is a loaded bullshit question.
define your categorizations and then we can talk:
do you mean:
Technical mixing ability?
how the hell would you even judge that i wouldn't know. I can think of at least 100 dj's that would never ever do anything less than a perfect mix every time.
do you mean:
is the most popular, has played for the most people, has done it the longest, etc...?
just what the hell do you mean man!?!?
I like dj politics the best.
