Hi guys,
I was wondering what distortion plugins do you use for leads apart from Amp Distortion.
I have Guitar Rig 4 but cannot get that clean digital distortion that I hear in some Abomination sounds.
Thank you |

i like Quadrafuzz and Reason's Scream 4 distortion unit.
Scream 4 has many types of dist.
overdrive, tube, tape, etc. some of them are very smooth.
it works only on Reason. I use it rewired. |

i often use Warp Drive AU (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/16965/warp-drive-au). especially for acidlines. it's a very simple freeware plugin but sounds great.
other distortion i use often are those built into rob papen synths (especially turning the volume knob up too much in blue) and those built into logic. |

What do you guys generally use distortion for on your tracks......i try to sometimes put it on a bassline but sometimes it makes it sound out of tune....maybe it cuz im using a fl studio native dist plug-in......but what do you put it on...basses,pianos,guitars? |

I think FL's hardcore is pretty cool lately, in Ableton anyway.

If you use guitar rig, take out the cabs & just leave the amps. Another way to get different tones is with covolution reverbs, just use single waveshapes!
They give a whole different tone to the sound. I can't give you any good plugs to get cause I use logic & the metioned are the ones I would use. But yeah get D16 group's stuff. They sound real good & look awesome!
Also if it's for leads, instead of using standard distortion, use a bit-crusher, it makes a sharper sound, that's what I use for my bases. Layer up that lead & don't just use a lead kind sound, try layering a trumpet and a supersaw together or something totaly random, it will sound better than you think.
